FOCUSING ON JESUS I.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE:  FRIDAY 1ST MARCH 2019 THEME:  FOCUSING ON JESUS I. MEMORISE: Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 READ: Hebrews 12:1-3 1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. MESSAGE Have you ever wondered why the Bible admonished us to keep looking unto Jesus? The answer lies in our mem...

BREVITY OF LIFE

DAILY    MANNA FRIDAY 1ST MARCH, 2019    BREVITY  OF  LIFE TEXT: JUDGES 12:7-15 KEY VERSE: "And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead" (JUDGES 12:7).   For every man, life is short and uncertain. Only the near approach of death is ever so sure. It is therefore necessary that we place priority on living a life that counts for eternity. The story of Jephthah shows that God can use anyone to accomplish His purpose. Through his boldness and faith in the God of Israel, he obtained great deliverance for Israel against the Ammonites.   Jephthah was firm in his decision and vow to God. His steadfastness is a lesson to contemporary believers. Although, he died after only six years of his victory over the Ammonities, that victory brought peace that lasted over 31 years to Israel. The three judges that ruled immediately after Jephthah had no wars to fight for their reign ...

Meditate on Scripture

Meditate on Scripture Billy Graham's Daily Devotion Mar 01, 2019 How can a young man stay pure? By reading your Word and following its rules. –Psalm 119:9 (TLB) Many of the difficulties we experience as Christians can be traced to a lack of Bible study and reading. We should not be content to skim through a chapter merely to satisfy our conscience. Hide the Word of God in your heart! A little portion well digested is of greater value to the soul than a lengthy portion scanned hurriedly. Do not be discouraged because you cannot understand it all. Go on reading. As you read, the Holy Spirit will enlighten the passages for you. Reading the Bible has a purifying effect upon the heart and mind.  Read more about how to meditate on God's Word. PRAYER FOR THE DAY Let the enlightenment of the riches of Your Word sink deep within my soul, Lord.

Under the Shadow of the Almighty

Friday March 1 st , 2019 Word of Life Daily Devotional Under the Shadow of the Almighty Memory verse: - Ps 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Bible Reading: - John 15: 1 – 8 Message Jesus is the true vine, believers are branches in the Lord and God – the Elshaddai is the husbandman. He is all in all; the owner of the universe and our souls; we are under his umbrella; he watches over the vine and the branches and he never slumber nor sleeps, his protection is sure because he mightier than any foe that might want to touch us. Jesus said his father is the husbandman – the garden keeper; he is more than enough to keep the yielded and obedient followers of Christ that abide in the vine. His protection may not be ascertained if the acclaimed professor of faith in Christ is a wanderer from valley to mountain – the unstable believers serving God and mammon. As farmers love fruit bearing plants and they rem...

Keep The Switch Of Faith Turned On

Health Food – February 28 By Rhema Team, Feb 28, 2019 Keep The Switch Of Faith Turned On Then enquired he [Jesus] of them the hour when he began to amend. . . .  — JOHN 4:52 Because healing is not always instantaneous, many people lose the beginning of their healing because they don’t know that. Unfortunately, whenever I say that, people usually respond, “Well, Brother Hagin, under the ministry of Jesus, Jesus always healed everybody instantly.” But I read in the Bible that under the ministry of Jesus, the nobleman’s son began to “amend from that hour” (John 4:52). That means that he began to get better until he was finally all right. Many people miss out on God’s blessings because they don’t receive an instant manifestation. But through the years, our ministry has had innumerable people healed of terminal cancer, and of all of those cases of healing, only one person was healed instantly. I remember laying hands on...

Promise Of Protection

Faith Food – February 28 By Rhema Team, Feb 28, 2019 Promise Of Protection Read Psalm 91. Paul said, in writing to the Church “ . . . ye are God’s husbandry  [garden, farm],  ye are God’s building ” (1 Cor. 3:9). That means we belong to God. Now, if you have a building worth anything, even your own home, you are going to protect it every way you possibly can. And God, in His Holy Word, has promised us protection. I think the greatest such promise is Psalm 91. Many years ago, I read this Psalm from a Swedish translation. I found that verse 10 translated in the King James Version as “ There shall no evil befall thee . . .  ,” was translated in the Swedish version as, “There shall no accident overtake thee . . . .” I researched it and found that this meaning is, indeed, included in the original text. I then claimed this protection. Some years later, I did some checking and found that I had driven nearly two millio...

He Gives Us Life Eternal

He Gives Us Life Eternal Billy Graham's Daily Devotion Feb 28, 2019 These things have I written unto you that believe . . . that ye may know that ye have eternal life . . .  –1 John 5:13 Recently I read that it will cost this country a hundred billion dollars to get one man safely to Mars. It cost God the priceless blood of His only Son to get us sinners to heaven. By tasting death for every man, Jesus took over our penalty as He erased our guilt. Now God can forgive. In a moment of thanksgiving, Paul once exclaimed, "He loved me and gave Himself for me!" Will you repeat these words right now, even as you read? If you do, I believe you will have cause to be thankful too, and that you will experience the love of God in your heart. Try it and see. The Bible teaches that you can be absolutely sure that you are saved.  Find out more about God's amazing love as you watch  The Cross , featuring Billy Graham, Lecrae & Lacey Sturm. ANXIETY CAN’T DO IT.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE:  THURSDAY 28TH FEBRUARY 2019 THEME:  ANXIETY CAN’T DO IT. MEMORISE: Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6 READ: Matthew 6:25-34 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so cl...

ORDERLY WORSHIP

DAILY   MANNA THURSDAY 28TH FEBRUARY, 2019    ORDERLY  WORSHIP TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 14:6-40 KEY VERSE: "How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying" (1 CORINTHIANS 14:26).   A man saw himself being carried to church in his dream. He saw the organist vigorously playing the organ, but no sound was heard. The choir and congregation began to sing, but their voices were not heard. Then the minister began, energetically to pray, but no tones came from his lips. The man turned in wonder to his angel guide, "you hear nothing said the angel, because there is nothing to hear. These people are not engaged in worship but only in the form of worship. Their hearts are not touched and this silence is the silence that is yet unbroken in the presence of God."    The Corinthian church was as controversial as it was...

Avoid the Doings of the Land

Thursday February 28 th , 2019 Word of Life Daily Devotional Avoid the Doings of the Land Memory verse: - Lev 18:3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances. Bible Reading: - Lev 18: 1 – 30 Message God never changes like chameleon; he is firm, faithful and immutable; he hates abominable acts and can make the land to vomit out her inhabitants because of wickedness, idolatry and immoral activities. He warned Israelites through Moses his servant that they should not do as the Egyptians and Canaanites did such as idolatry, illicit sex, wickedness and immorality. These are the customs and practices of the ungodly that are variance to God’s standard of holiness. As he commanded them to walk in his statues and ordinances in the Old Testament without any reservation, so he wants us [Christians] to come out of worldliness a...

Godliness Is Profitable

Faith Food – February 26 By Rhema Team, Feb 26, 2019 Godliness Is Profitable For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.  — 1 TIMOTHY 4:8 Some people would have you believe that godliness — living for God, being born again, walking in fellowship with the Lord — has no profit in this life. They think we must simply endure life with all its ups and downs, struggles and trials, always bearing in mind that “this life will soon be o’er.” I’m glad Paul gave us a balanced viewpoint by saying that godliness is not only profitable “over yonder” in the next life, but it has promise of “ . . . the life that now is . . . . ” As sinners, we were bankrupt, but God had mercy on us, and He sent Jesus to redeem us. Jesus came not only to save us from our sins — but to live within us (Col. 1:27). And Jesus w...

You Ought To Be Loosed!

Health Food – February 26 By Rhema Team, Feb 26, 2019 You Ought To Be Loosed! And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?  — LUKE 13:162 The woman in this account was bowed together and could not lift herself up. Jesus said, “You ought to be loosed.” Jesus is saying the same thing today. If you’re bound with sickness, if you’re bound with disease, you ought to be loosed. Jesus said that this woman ought to be healed because she was a daughter of Abraham. If you’re a son or a daughter of Abraham, you ought to be loosed. Galatians 3:29 says, “And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:7 says, “Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.” We’re the seed of Abraham. We’re the children of Ab...

God Our Comforter

God Our Comforter Billy Graham's Daily Devotion Feb 27, 2019 I, even I, am he that comforteth you . . .  –Isaiah 51:12 There is also comfort in mourning, because in the midst of mourning God gives a song. His presence in our lives changes our mourning into song, and that song is a song of comfort. This kind of comfort is the kind which enabled a devout Englishman to look at a deep dark hole in the ground where his home stood before the bombing and say, "I always did want a basement. Now I can jolly well build another house, like I always wanted." This kind of comfort is the kind which enabled a young minister's wife in a church near us to teach her Sunday school class of girls on the very day of her husband's funeral. Her mourning was not the kind which had no hope—it was a mourning of faith in the goodness and wisdom of God; it believed that our heavenly Father makes no mistakes.  Read more about grief and loss.   Listen to Billy Graham's mes...

NO FOOD FOR LAZY MAN.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE:  WEDNESDAY 27TH FEBRUARY 2019 THEME:  NO FOOD FOR LAZY MAN. MEMORISE: For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 READ: Proverbs 6:4-11 4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids. 5 Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler. 6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: 7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, 8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. 9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? 10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man. MESSAGE Laziness can be defines as the attitude of being unwilling to work or dissipate energy in the pursuit of a goal. It c...

DROP YOUR PRIDE

DAILY   MANNA WEDNESDAY 27TH FEBRUARY, 2019   DROP  YOUR  PRIDE TEXT: MATTHEW 2:1-13 KEY VERSE: "Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem" (MATTHEW 2:1).    The speaker at a convention attended by a quadriplegic Joni Eareckson Tada (who cannot walk because of a diving accident at age seventeen), urged everyone to kneel to worship God. The handicapped woman began to cry being the only one unable to kneel. With tearful eyes, she said, "Lord Jesus, I can't wait for the day when I will rise up on resurrected legs. The first thing I will then do is to drop on grateful, glorified knees and worship you."   In our text, we read of the wise men's humble attendance upon this newborn King of the Jews, and the honours they paid Him. From the east, they came to Jerusalem and then to Bethlehem, resolving to seek till they should find. Having found the King, they ...

Perfect Blood of Atonement

Wednesday February 27 th , 2019 Word of Life Daily Devotional Perfect Blood of Atonement Memory verse: - Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Bible Reading: - Lev 17: 1 – 16 Message God that made all things under this heaven made us to realise that the life of all flesh is in the blood and that before our sins can be atoned for blood must be shed; and that was why Israel of old were commanded to lay all their sins on an animal and shed its blood to atone for their sins. It is life for life. You look fresh all the time because of the blood in you and the wicked one in the spiritual realm will not touch your blood in Jesus name; your blood will be bitter to them and they will not be able to drink it in Jesus name. They know that when they tamper with your blood, the flesh cannot stand, the spirit and soul will depart an...

BORN AGAIN FOR A PURPOSE.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE:  TUESDAY 26TH FEBRUARY 2019 THEME:  BORN AGAIN FOR A PURPOSE. MEMORISE: As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. Acts 13:2 READ: Acts 9:1-6 1And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, 2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have m...

BETTER THINGS FOR US

DAILY   MANNA TUESDAY 26TH FEBRUARY, 2019 BETTER  THINGS  FOR  US TEXT: HEBREWS 11:32-40 KEY VERSE: "And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect" (HEBREWS 11:39, 40).    Faith is important in the Christian walk as it opens the treasure house of God's abundant provisions. Without faith, the believer cannot receive the required grace to please God and walk in righteousness and holiness.   Today's passage catalogues the exploits of heroes of faith, who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, out of weakness were made strong and suffered many things to obtain a good report. Yet, they received not the promise and could not be made perfect without the New Testament believers.   In the plan of God, He had in mind the full realisation of His promi...

Practice the Fruits of the Spirit

Practice the Fruits of the Spirit Billy Graham's Daily Devotion Feb 26, 2019 But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control . . .  –Galatians 5:22,23 (TLB) Christ can rid you of inner conflict. Man without God is always torn between two urges. His nature prompts him to do wrong, and his conscience urges him to do right. Antagonistic desires and crossed-up emotions keep him in a state of personal instability. Medical men have almost concluded that this conflict is the basis of much physical breakdown and nervous collapse. Many doctors now believe that among the contributing causes of the common cold are stress, tension, and inner conflict. Paul must have been in the midst of such a personal civil war when he cried, "O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" Then he answered his own question when ...

Keep the Faith

Tuesday February 26 th , 2019 Word of Life Daily Devotional Keep the Faith Memory verse : - 2Ti 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Bible Reading: - 2 Tim 4: 1 – 22 Message Paul was a courageous, consistent, diligent and abounding soldier of the cross who went through the difficulties of his warfare and was instrumental in carrying on the glorious victories of the exalted Redeemer over the power of darkness. He was a faithful soldier of the cross to the extent that demons recognized him and bowed out at his command. He was faithful in silencing the false teachers and prophets; he seized not to preach the whole counsel and doctrine of Christ day and night, publicly and from house to house. Powers of darkness was unable to silence him despite all he went through; he remained unmovable in his commitment to the end. We are saved by faith and can only be kept by faith for it is written that the just shall live by faith. In plent...

God Is Still In The Healing Business

Health Food – February 25 By Rhema Team, Feb 25, 2019 God Is Still In The Healing Business . . . for I am the Lord that healeth thee.  — EXODUS 15:26 For I am the Lord, I change not. . . .  — MALACHI 3:6 The Lord said to Israel, “I am the Lord that healeth thee.” God was Israel’s healer, so God provided physical healing under the Old Covenant. But some people don’t believe that the Lord heals today under the New Covenant. Now the children of Israel were never sons of God; they were only servants of God. Since God did not want His servants sick—since He had made provision for them to be well and live their full life out down here on earth without sickness or disease—why would He want something less for His sons? Wouldn’t it be strange for God to want His servants to be well, but His sons to be sick? Under the New Covenant, we are God’s sons. In the New Testament, Peter says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing go...

Don’t Talk Fear

Faith Food – February 25 By Rhema Team, Feb 25, 2019 Don’t Talk Fear Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.  — PROVERBS 6:2 With your mouth , you are either going to give God or Satan dominion over you. When you were born again, you confessed the lordship of Jesus Christ (Rom. 10:9,10). You confessed Jesus as your Lord. Jesus began to have dominion over you and to rule in your life. But, when you confess Satan’s ability to hinder you, to keep you from success, to cause you to fear — even though you are a Christian — you are giving Satan dominion over you. And, naturally, when Satan has dominion over you, you are filled with weakness and fear. Don’t ever confess your fears. “But what if I’m afraid?” you might ask. “You” are not really afraid. The Bible says that God has not given you — the real “you” — the spirit of fear, but He...

THE CRUCIFIED LIFE.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE:  MONDAY 25TH FEBRUARY 2019 THEME:  THE CRUCIFIED LIFE. MEMORISE: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 READ: Romans 6:1-14 1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of si...

WITHOUT CEASING

DAILY   MANNA MONDAY 25TH FEBRUARY, 2019   WITHOUT  CEASING TEXT: EXODUS 9:27-35 KEY VERSE: "And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken by Moses" (EXODUS 9:35).   A woman was in hospital for a heart surgery. After the successful operation, the heart would not start beating. The doctor massaged the heart to get it going and even tried using other procedures, but nothing worked. In an act of desperation, the surgeon knelt down beside the patient and said: "This is your surgeon. The operation went perfectly and your heart has been repaired, but you need to tell your heart to beat again." Immediately, her heart began beating! The patient needed to cooperate with him. By an act of her will, she had to start her own heart beating.   Pharoah, king of Egypt resisted God's command to let Israel go. The Lord had to forcefully deliver Israel by sending plagues upon Egypt. It was the seventh plagu...

Change of Heart

Change of Heart Billy Graham's Daily Devotion Feb 25, 2019 Christ taught you! If you have really heard his voice . . . then throw off your old evil nature-the old you that was a partner in your evil ways . . .  –Ephesians 4:20-22 (TLB) Paul before his conversion was not meek. Proudly and brutally, he apprehended all Christians and sought to destroy them. He was bigoted, selfish, and vaunted. But when he wrote his warm and affectionate letter to the churches of Galatia, he said, among other things, "The fruit of the Spirit is . . . gentleness, goodness . . . meekness." His meekness was something God-given, not something man-made. It is not our nature to be meek. On the contrary, it is our nature to be proud and haughty. That is why the new birth is so essential to each of us. That is why Jesus frankly and pointedly said not only to Nicodemus but to every one of us, "Ye must be born again." Meekness begins there! You must have a change of nature.  ...

Be the First Partaker

Monday February 25 th , 2019 Word of Life Daily Devotional Be the First Partaker Memory verse: - 2Ti 2:6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. Bible Reading: - Ezr 7:10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments. 13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. 16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. Message The father is the head of the family and must provide mundane things for the family as well as feed them spiritually. But he does not do this neglecting himself otherwise he will be famished and might not get strengt...

Resisting Fear

Faith Food – February 24 By Rhema Team, Feb 24, 2019 Resisting Fear For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  — 2 TIMOTHY 1:7 Today’s text calls fear a spirit, and it states definitely that the spirit of fear does not come from God. Today’s faith thought is a confession you can use to successfully resist fear when it attempts to come upon you. Fear, I resist you, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. In His mighty Name, I resist you. I refuse to fear; I refuse to be afraid. It is written in His Holy Word that He hath not given me the spirit of fear; But of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. I no longer have the spirit of fear. I have the spirit of love. I have the spirit of power. I have the spirit of a sound mind. Source: Faith Food Devotions by Kenneth E. Hagin. Have The Tenacity Of A Bulldog

Health Food – February 24 By Rhema Team, Feb 24, 2019 Have The Tenacity Of A Bulldog ! And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force . — MATTHEW 11:12 Sometimes in the area of healing, particularly when chronic illness is involved, you have to do what the Scripture says: You have to take it by force! Sometimes you just have to get violent about it, and have the tenacity of a bulldog—grab hold of God and His Word and don’t ever turn loose! I’ll tell you what I literally did on one occasion. Some time after I was healed as a teenager, all of my heart symptoms came back, and the devil kept bringing to my mind everything that the doctors had said. The devil said, “Now you’ve got all these symptoms and you’re going to die, just like the doctors said. There isn’t anything that medical science can do. They’ve already told you that, so there’s no ...

He Is Merciful

He Is Merciful Billy Graham's Daily Devotion Feb 24, 2019 Who is a God like unto thee . . . he delighteth in mercy. –Micah 7:18 Many people want to hear what God says just out of curiosity. They want to analyze and dissect it in their own test tubes. To these people, God may remain the great cosmic silence "out there somewhere." He communicates to those who are willing to hear and receive Him, and willing to obey Him. Jesus said that we must become humble as little children, and God has most often revealed Himself to the meek and the humble—to a shepherd boy like David, to a rough desert man like John the Baptist, to shepherds watching their flocks, to a girl named Mary. How does God speak? How can a blind man see? How can a deaf man hear? From the beginning God spoke to man. Adam heard the voice of the Lord in the Garden of Eden. Adam had two sons, Cain and Abel, and God spoke to them. Cain spurned that which was revealed to him, but Abel was obedient to ...

ARE YOU A STUMBLING BLOCK?

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE:  SUNDAY 24TH FEBRUARY 2019 THEME:  ARE YOU A STUMBLING BLOCK? MEMORISE: And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. Mark 9:42 READ: 1 Corinthians 8:9-12 9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak. 10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; 11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. MESSAGE The Holy Spirit often depicts the Christian life as a race. Stumbling blocks are obstacles place along the course of this race in order to trip people and bring them down as t...

A MORE EXCELLENT WAY

DAILY    MANNA SUNDAY 24TH FEBRUARY, 2019 A MORE EXCELLENT WAY TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 13:1-13 KEY VERSE: "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity" (1 CORINTHIANS 13:13).   The world's notion of love is at variance with heavenly love, which transcends the loose definition of love in its filial, limited and selfish perspectives. God-like love is what a writer calls "true love to God and man, a benevolent disposition of mind towards our fellow Christians, growing out of a sincere and perfect devotion to God".   This chapter dwells on charity (love). It is meant to correct the wrong notion the Corinthian Christians had over the possession of spiritual gifts as "all in all". The thrust of the message is that, a mere possession of those gifts does not necessarily portray a higher spiritual stand before God. Gifts not ministered with perfect love is vain and worthless. Love is a virtue that makes other gifts ...
