Be the First
Partaker
Memory verse: - 2Ti 2:6 The husbandman that
laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
Bible Reading: - Ezr 7:10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to
seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and
judgments.
13 Till I come, give
attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14 Neglect not the gift
that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the
hands of the presbytery. 15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to
them; that thy profiting may appear to all. 16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto
the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself,
and them that hear thee.
Message
The
father is the head of the family and must provide mundane things for the family
as well as feed them spiritually. But he does not do this neglecting himself
otherwise he will be famished and might not get strength to continue providing
for them.
Therefore
as a leader in the church, do not read Bible for the people alone, read it for
yourself; take time apart regularly to be with God alone and let him talk to
you and have good communion and good rapport with your God so as to be
spiritually fresh and well nourished yourself. As the husbandman, a co –
laborer in the vineyard of God you must not neglect your spiritual life and
Christ likeness so as not to be a cast away on the last day.
Look at
how Ezra did it for your learning, he prepared himself to seek the law of God
for himself and carry it out before teaching others. Read the Bible to
yourself, for yourself, get message from God and pray it in before teaching or
preaching to others: you first and then the people; you must be the first
partaker.
Paul
would have done it that way and that was why he counseled Timothy to take heed
unto himself first and then the doctrine; the early church said “we shall give
ourselves to prayers and then ministry of the word.
Jesus
our perfect example would rise up a great while before dawn and went into a
solitary place for prayers even before his disciples woke up. Feed yourself to
the full in the word first and that must be everyday; then others. It must be
in that order so as to be spiritually fresh and full of anointing to feed
others.
Remember
you can only give what you have to others; hence, take care of your spiritual
life diligently; maintain a good personal fellowship with the Lord of the work
every day and your profiting shall be visible to everyone that hear thee. Let his
word [Christ] dwell in you richly so that like a spring of living water, it will
flow from you to others that are under your ministry.
Confession
of the Day
I will maintain
my fellowship with the master of the work diligently, so that I can receive from
him to share with others.
Prayer
Points
My Lord and
my God let me not be a cast away on the last day after I might have ministered unto
others; give me grace to constantly and diligently observe my quiet time.
