Working Together for Good

Working Together for Good Billy Graham's Daily Devotion Feb 01, 2019 We know that all things work together for good to them that love God . . .  –Romans 8:28 We might never have had the songs of Fanny Crosby had she not been afflicted with blindness. George Matheson would never have given the world his immortal song, "O Love That Will Not Let Me Go," had it not been for his passing through the furnace of affliction. The "Hallelujah Chorus" was written by George Frederick Handel when he was poverty-stricken and suffering from a paralyzed right side and right arm. Affliction may be for our edification and Christian development. Sickness is one of the "all things" which work together for good to them that love God. Don't resent it. Don't be embittered by it.  Why did God let me get sick?  Read Billy Graham's answer . PRAYER FOR THE DAY You do not make mistakes, Father. If sorrow comes into my life, let me use it to help oth

YOU CAN BE UNSTOPPABLE

DAILY     MANNA FRIDAY 1ST FEBRUARY, 2019 YOU CAN BE UNSTOPPABLE TEXT: NEHEMIAH 6:15,16 KEY VERSE: "And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God" (NEHEMIAH 6:16).   In all ages, men have always constituted themselves as opposition to the work of God. They have always waged relentless war against His will and purpose. But the truth is that in spite of their threats, the counsel of the Lord shall stand.    Regardless of all the opposition, Nehemiah and those faithful people who worked with him, accomplished their goal. Expectedly, the enemies were disheartened when they saw the work. They knew that if under that great opposition, the Jews were still able to complete the work of building the walls, then nothing could stop them.    Believers must not lose sleep over the offensive push from enemies. WATCH YOUR APPETITE.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE:  FRIDAY 1ST FEBRUARY 2019 THEME:  WATCH YOUR APPETITE.  MEMORISE: Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: Proverb 23:6 READ: Genesis 25:28-34 28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob. 29 And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint: 30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. 31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. 32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? 33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright. Christian Relations

Friday 1 st February, 2019 Word of Life Daily Devotional Christian Relations Memory verse: - Mk 10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. Bible Reading: - 1Tim 5: 1 – 25 Message A born again Christian will have spiritual family relations that have being in the faith before him who will embrace him with open hands of love and with all readiness to assist him sacrificially – that is without anything in return. He will have fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters in the faith and how to relate with them so that they live together in harmony was stated in our text today. First of all, elders [teachers of the word, pastors and leaders] must not be evil spoken of; must not be rebuked, but must be intreated – pleaded with as one would with a father. Leaders are not novice but sincere men of God put in place by God himself to tea

THE PRICE OF BEING A STANDARD

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: THURSDAY 31ST JANUARY 2019 THEME: THE PRICE OF BEING A STANDARD MEMORISE: Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon. Daniel 3:30 READ: Daniel 3:14-18 14 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? 15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace;  and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. 17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he wil

DO NOT FRET

DAILY    MANNA THURSDAY 31ST JANUARY, 2019 DO  NOT  FRET TEXT: ISAIAH 7:1-9 KEY VERSE: "Thus saith the Lord GOD, it shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass" (ISAIAH 7:7).    Since the coming of the social media, many more people appeared to have died of heartaches and unnecessary fear through the misuse of such channel. Every day, people post all manner of heart-rending pieces of information through the social media, many of which are outright falsehood. Thus, people's hearts are failing them; many die as a result of fear.    At this time in the history of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, the people had fallen far away from God that they made a league with Syria to fight against Judah. Despite the gang-up, God sent Isaiah to King Ahaz to tell him, "...take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted..." it was a time to remain calm in the face of an alliance of two nations that sought to conquer Jerusalem.    God also challenged Ahaz by

He Can Use Anyone

He Can Use Anyone Billy Graham's Daily Devotion Jan 31, 2019 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. –Philippians 1:21 Helen Keller, who is a classic example of handling life's handicaps, said, "I thank God for my handicaps, for through them I have found myself, my work, and my God." Some people with handicaps drown themselves in self-pity, and thus limit their usefulness and service to mankind and to God. The Apostle Paul knew the pangs of suffering. He used his infirmity rather than allowing his infirmity to use him, and he used it for the glory of God. He seized everything, even death, to glorify his Lord. No matter which way fate turned, he was one jump ahead of it, and using it to magnify his Savior.  "Broken Body, Grateful Heart": Listen to the powerful story of woman who's been disabled most of her life. PRAYER FOR THE DAY Even my handicaps can be used by You, Lord Jesus. Like the Apostle Paul, let me rise above them f

They Shall Recover’

Health Food – January 31 By Rhema Team, Jan 31, 2019 ‘They Shall Recover’ And these signs shall follow them that believe; . . . they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover . — MARK 16:17–18 In 1953, I was ministering at the Oakcliff Assembly of God Church in Dallas, when a young woman was brought to the service in an ambulance. She had been bedfast two years due to an automobile accident that broke her neck and her back. After being in the hospital for two years and at home for almost a year, she regained the use of her arms. But from her shoulders down, she was unable to move. When I knelt by her stretcher and laid hands on her, I had the impression that it would not be an instant healing. When I laid my hands on her feet, I felt a “warmth” go into her. She didn’t have any feeling in her feet. But her legs began to tingle and she said, “I feel that warmth coming out of your hands and up my legs.” I said to her, “That’s the healing power of God going into you. Move

Rest

Faith Food – January 31 By Rhema Team, Jan 31, 2019 Rest For we which have believed do enter into rest  . . . . — HEBREWS 4:3 Through the years, I’ve had the greatest time putting the Lord to work for me — just letting Him do the work. Since I learned about faith and that the Bible said, “. . .  we which have believed do enter into rest  . . .” I have been in a state of rest. Grasp what this scripture says! It doesn’t say that we have entered into a state of fearing, fretting, griping, worrying, or fighting. No! It says we have entered into  rest . I haven’t seen a “battle” in more than sixty-five years. When someone asks me, “How goes the battle?” I always answer, “The victory is wonderful!” There isn’t any battle. I’m in the victory.  Faith always has a good report! Confession:  I have believed. I am a believing one. Therefore, I have entered into rest. I am in a state of rest. I act like I am in a state of rest. I do not fear or fret. I do not worry. I do not gripe. I do n

Christ Receives the Cast Out

Thursday 30 th January, 2019 Words of Life Daily Devotional   Christ Receives the Cast Out Memory verse: - Jn 9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? Bible Reading: - John 9: 20 – 41 Message In our text today, we have four different characters: the jealous and wicked Pharisees and Sadducees; fearful parents of the blind man; the convinced, converted and bold blind man that was healed and the righteous Jesus our Lord – the giver of life, joy and peace. He gave the blind man hope by opening his eyes; he gave him a new life and new beginning; he took him from total darkness into marvelous light of God; he gave him joy and happiness. But the Pharisees and Sadducees refused to rejoice with the man delivered because of jealousy and hatred they have developed for Jesus, hence they cast man out from the synagogue hiding under the pretence that Christ did it on the Sabbath day. You need to

God Works From The Inside Out

Health Food – January 30 By Rhema Team, Jan 30, 2019 God Works From The Inside Out For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure . — PHILIPPIANS 2:13 Healing begins in your spirit. Even physical healing for your body begins in your spirit. God doesn’t start on the outside and work to the inside. No, He starts on the inside and works to the outside. So don’t look on the outside for physical healing. Look on the inside because that’s where He’ll begin working. And if you will look on the inside— if you will yield to that something on the inside of you and not pay so much attention to your outward symptoms—you’ll eventually look around for those symptoms and find that they’re gone. Once when death had come to fasten its final throes upon me, I started laughing in my spirit. It bubbled up and started rolling out of my mouth. I was laughing in the face of death. The devil said, “What are you laughing at?” I said, “I’m laughing at you. Because, yo

His Battle

Faith Food – January 30 By Rhema Team, Jan 30, 2019 His Battle . . . Be not afraid nor dismayed . . . for the battle is not yours, but God’s.  — 2 CHRONICLES 20:15 I believe the Greater One lives in us if we’re born again (1 John 4:4). I believe Jesus is greater than the devil. I know the Word of God says that. Therefore, I must act like it’s true. That’s when it becomes a reality, and that’s when the Greater One goes to work for me. If I go to pieces and act like I’m trying to fight the battle, the Greater One is not fighting it. And then I’m not taking advantage of the Greater One and what He has done for me. So I don’t try to figure out the situation. I just lie down and go to sleep, no matter what’s going on. During the years I pastored, almost every church the Lord sent me to, was a church that had trouble. One church in particular no one wanted to pastor. God dealt with me before they contacted me, so I took it. But I didn’t have any trouble. I rolled that church and its

CARE FOR THE NEEDY

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: WEDNESDAY 30TH JANUARY 2019 THEME: CARE FOR THE NEEDY MEMORISE: He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. Proverbs 19:17 READ: James 2:14-17 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body;  what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. MESSAGE Caring for the needy is an issue that is very dear to the heart of the Almighty God. In Deuteronomy 15:11, He reveals His mindset to us concerning the poor: “For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy

PREACH, ANYWAY

DAILY    MANNA WEDNESDAY 30TH JANUARY, 2019 PREACH,  ANYWAY! TEXT: ISAIAH 6:9-13 KEY VERSE: "Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed" (ISAIAH 6:10).       Polycarp, who lived in the first generation after the apostles, was born in Smyrna and later became the bishop of the city. He was the last survivor of those who had talked with the eyewitnesses of Jesus. As a very old man, he was arrested, tried and condemned. When asked to renounce his faith in Christ, he replied, "Eighty-six years have I served him and he hath done me no wrong. How can I speak evil of my King who saved me? He was set ablaze. But the flames refused to consume him, he was killed with the sword and then burned.    Isaiah was commissioned to a spiritually insensitive people, a people who were dull of hearing. They were dull of hearing because they had no interest i

Use Your Time Wisely

For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. —James 4:14 Nothing takes God by surprise. Everything is moving according to a plan, and God wants you in that plan. The devil also has a plan for the world. God has a plan and the devil has a plan, and you will have to decide which plan you are going to fit into. Scripture says that God allows us 70 years and some beyond. The first 15 are spent in childhood and early adolescence. Twenty years are spent in bed, and in the last five, physical limitations start to curtail our activities. That gives us about 30 years in which to live as adults. We take time out for eating, and for figuring our taxes, and we are down to perhaps 15 years. Now suppose we spend seven of those years watching television. That cuts us down to seven or eight years. Our time is short! The time we can invest for God, in creative things, in reaching our fellowmen for Christ, is short! Read Billy Graham’s clas

Be in the Know

Wednesday 30 th January, 2019 Words of Life Daily Devotional Be in the Know Memory verse: - Jn 9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Bible Reading: - John 9: 1 – 12 Message There are a lot of revelation about the kingdom, God and Holy Spirit by Christ to his disciples because the asked questions; meaningful question; genuine questions about what baffles them and they wanted to know why it was like that. One of such occasion was revealed in our text today. From Christ response, we discovered that not all disabilities and deformities were caused by those affected one way or the other; that it was done to show the works of God on them. Therefore, let us not judge or condemn anyone having one problem or the other, but we should seek the face of God for them to manifest his himself on their behalf. Set time apart to prayerfully search the scriptures for revelation of things you do not understand

The Lord At Work

Faith Food – January 29 By Rhema Team, Jan 29, 2019 The Lord At Work . . . For the battle is the Lord’s  . . . . — 1 SAMUEL 17:47 “Don’t get into any trouble,” my mother called after me as I went to face a family crisis. “So-and-so almost whipped Dub.” “I’m not going to have any trouble,” I answered. “I’ll never have any trouble. I’m going to put the Lord to work.” As I approached the driveway, the wife of the man who had caused so much trouble met me. She began to rant and rave, and just plain old Texas, “cuss.” I thought,  Dear Lord, here is this poor old soul, full of hate and selfishness, and she can’t help being that way. She can’t help having the nature of the devil in her, because she’s a child of the devil. I didn’t say a word to her, but I said to the Lord in my heart, “Thank God, the Greater One is in me” (1 John 4:4). And I  acted  like the Greater One was in me. And He  is  greater. She must have sensed the compassion rising up in me, because she suddenly looked

The Truth Shall Make You Free

Health Food – January 29 By Rhema Team, Jan 29, 2019 The Truth Shall Make You Free And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free . — JOHN 8:32 Jesus is the truth, and Satan is the oppressor. Sickness comes from Satan—who is the author of it—not God. You see, the more truth you get into you, the more free you’ll be. You’ll know the truth, and the truth will make you free. Confession:  It is God’s will that I be well. It is God’s will that I be healed. That’s God’s plan and purpose. For it is written, “Himself took my infirmities and bare my sicknesses.” What He bore, I need not bear. It is God’s will that I walk in health. It is His will that I not be oppressed by the devil. Sickness is satanic oppression, for sickness comes from the devil. Satan is the author of sickness. It is not the will of God that any of His children be under the dominion of Satan. It is not the will of God that I as His child be under the dominion of Satan—under the dominion of sickness an

GET THE CLEANING FIRST

DAILY    MANNA TUESDAY 29TH JANUARY, 2019 GET  THE  CLEANING  FIRST TEXT: ISAIAH 6:1-8 KEY VERSE: "And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged" (ISAIAH 6:7).    Charles Spurgeon had a sinful habit of smoking cigarette. It became a concern to many of his followers who saw him smoke openly. One day, he invited a guest minister who spoke on the need for believers to shun "little foxes" such as smoking, adding that anyone who was still involved in the habit of smoking was not really a child of God. There was rowdiness in the congregation because they wondered why their pastor was into smoking. After the preacher ended his message, Spurgeon was said to have climbed the stage and in a bid to water down the effect of the message, said: "Brethren there are things which to men appear sinful, but to God they are not so; despite what Brother Pentecost has said, tonight I hope to smoke a

Share What He Has Done Billy Graham's Daily Devotion Jan 29, 2019 I will declare thy name unto my brethren . . .  –Psalm 22:22 There are those near you in your own community who need the regenerating power of Christ. You can call them by name. I suggest that you make a list and begin by spending time in prayer for them. Ask God to show you how to witness to them and how to win them. Their lives can be transformed by the message you give them. You are to share this Gospel you have received. If Christ has done anything for you, then share it. In so doing, you are showing mercy! Strange Fire

Tuesday 29 th January, 2019 Words of Life Daily Devotional Strange Fire Memory Verse: - Lev 10:2 And there went out fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. Bible Reading: - Lev 10: 1 – 20 Message We are serving a sacred God who is a consuming fire; and of the purer eyes that cannot behold iniquity of any form of presumptuous sins. We have a lot lessons to learn from the presumptuous sins of Nadab and Abihu: We must not do that which the Lord has not commanded us to do God is sacred and must reverently be worshipped. Ecc 5:1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. God is a consuming fire with fire that kills the presumptuous ones without burning their coats A soul that sins shall die and be alienated from God now and in eternity if not repented from. HEART'S TREASURE

DAILY     MANNA MONDAY 28TH JANUARY, 2019 HEART'S  TREASURE TEXT: NEHEMIAH 1:1-3 KEY VERSE: "That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem" (NEHEMIAH 1:2).    A man's heart is upon what he treasures most. He carries it in his heart, sleeps and wakes with it and goes about with it day and night.    Nehemiah's patriotism and fervent love for the holy land was something deep in his heart but it is seen in his passion and quest for information concerning Jerusalem. Though he appeared to have lived all his life in exile, he loved the holy city, Jerusalem, and was in waiting expectation of a return to the homeland to help remove the reproach of the broken down walls. Nehemiah's comfortable position in the palace did not reduce his interest and commitment to Jerusalem. His inquiry concerning the state of the inhabitants and of

Jesus Is Our Comforter

Jesus Is Our Comforter Billy Graham's Daily Devotion Jan 28, 2019 . . . our Lord Jesus Christ . . . which hath loved us . . . comfort your hearts . . .  –2 Thessalonians 2:16,17 Christ is the answer to sorrow. When Harry Lauder, the great Scottish comedian, received word that his son had been killed in France, he said, "In a time like this, there are three courses open to man: He may give way to despair and become bitter. He may endeavor to drown his sorrow in drink or in a life of wickedness. Or he may turn to God." In your sorrow, turn to God. There are thousands of people who have turned to God, but you may be still carrying your burdens. God begs of you, "Cast all your cares on me, for I care for you" (1 Peter 5:7). You who must go through the valley of the shadow of death, you who must say goodbye to those whom you have loved, you who suffer privation and misery, you who are unjustly persecuted for righteousness' sake-take heart, take co

Reality

Faith Food – January 27 By Rhema Team, Jan 27, 2019 Reality Thy word is true from the beginning  . . . . — PSALM 119:160 People often make a substitution for faith — they substitute  mental assent  or  mental agreement . They mentally agree that God’s Word is true, and they call that  faith . But mentally agreeing with the Word isn’t faith. You can mentally agree that the Bible is true, but it won’t become real to you until you act on what it says.  It’s when you act on God’s Word that it becomes a reality . For example, you can believe in the truth of the resurrection as a great doctrine (and in some circles that’s all it is — a doctrine or a dogma), but it won’t mean a thing in the world to you until you can say, “Jesus died  for me ! Jesus arose victorious over death, hell, and the grave — and He did that for me! Jesus arose victorious over Satan! Jesus conquered Satan for me! Therefore, Satan has no dominion over me! I’m free!” The resurrection won’t mean anything in your l

After a while, I went home but never thought to wash my hands. Momma said, “Young man, did you get into Mr. _____’s peaches?” “No,” I said, “I didn’t. _____ did.” And I called my cousin’s name. She said, “You go knock on that man’s door and tell him you’ve come to pay for that peach you ate.” So I got my nickel and cried all the way to Mr. _____’s house, hoping that he wouldn’t be there. I knocked on the door and didn’t hear anything for a while, so I knocked again. I was about to turn around and go home when I heard footsteps coming from the back of the house. When the man opened the door, I said, “Sir, we picked one of your peaches and

Responsibility of Family

Responsibility of Family Billy Graham's Daily Devotion Jan 27, 2019 Bless me and my family forever! –2 Samuel 7:29 (TLB) Apart from religious influence, the family is the most important unit of society. It would be good if every home were Christian, but we know that it is not so. The family and the home can never exert their proper influence while ignoring the biblical standard. The Bible calls for discipline and a recognition of authority. If children do not learn this at home, they will go out into society without the proper attitude toward authority and law. There is always the exceptional child, but the average tells us that the child is largely what the home has made him. The only way to provide the right home for your children is to put the Lord above them, and fully instruct them in the ways of the Lord. You are responsible before God for the home you provide for them.  "Never Take Fatherhood Lightly": A message from Billy Graham's grandson, Wil

NEEDED WORKS OF FAITH

DAILY    MANNA SUNDAY 27TH JANUARY, 2019 NEEDED  WORKS  OF  FAITH TEXT: JAMES 2:10-26 KEY VERSE: "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone" (JAMES 2:17).    An unsparing holiness preacher concerning whom little was known of his domestic life lived downtown in a Council flat. He told his staff and congregation never to visit him at home without an appointment. An usher living close by frequently flouted this rule, preferring to come to the pastor's house to submit reports without prior notice. The pastor desiring to know the reason asked the young man: "Did you realise you are disobedient by coming to my house without me inviting you?" He answered and said: "I am sorry, but I did it that I might, by some chance, come to discover how you react to the provocations of belligerent neighbours, the disturbing noises of infant wards and the mischief of domestic staff in your home. This I hoped, would help me beyond lessons from your sermons.&q
