We Have Power — Faith Activates the Power!

Health Food Devotional We Have Power — Faith Activates the Power! August 1, 2018 And when he [Jesus] had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.  (Matt. 10:1) In Matthew chapter 17, we read that Jesus took Peter, James, and John to what became known as the Mount of Transfiguration, where Jesus was transfigured before them. The only disciples on the mountain with Jesus were Peter, James, and John.  During this experience, the other nine disciples were at the foot of the mountain, where a man brought his son for them to minister to the boy, but they failed. Let's pick up with verse 14. And when they [Jesus, Peter, James, and John] were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

Mountains and Valleys

Faith Food Devotional Mountains and Valleys August 1, 2018 "Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ…" (2 Cor. 2:14).  I hear people talk about being in the valley, and then on the mountain, and then back in the valley again. To tell the truth about it, I don't know what they're talking about.  I've been saved since 1933, and I've never been anywhere but on the mountaintop!  You don't have to get down in the valley. People talk about their "valley experiences." I've never had any valley experiences. Oh, yes, there have been tests and trials - but I was on top of the mountain, shouting my way through it all, living above it. Praise God!  You see, those who say they're in the valleys are looking at life from the natural standpoint - from the physical. They are trying to get a spiritual answer from the physical, and you just can't do that.  Years ago, when I came among Pentecostal people after hav

Internal Strife By Billy Graham   •   August 1   •   Topics: Pride, Suffering

Pride goes before destruction and haughtiness before a fall. —Proverbs 16:18 (TLB) David, king of ancient Israel, found himself in the midst of a confused national situation. His kingdom was torn by internal strife. Slave hated master; master hated slave. People blamed the government, and government blamed the people. David looked about him and saw that every man thought himself perfect. Each individual placed blame upon other individuals. David knew that if sinful pride continued to increase, his nation would collapse spiritually. He knew that economic depression, moral disintegration, or military defeat inevitably follow spiritual decline. So David turned to God, and it was revealed to him by the Spirit of God that the spiritual tide of his nation could rise no higher than the spiritual level of his own heart. So he fell on his knees in utter humility and prayed, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead m

GOLD NOT BRASS

DAILY MANNA WEDNESDAY 1ST AUGUST, 2018 GOLD NOT BRASS TEXT: 1 KINGS 14:21-31 KEY VERSE: "And king Rehoboam made in their stead brasen shields, and committed them unto the hands of the chief of the guard, which kept the door of the king's house (1 KINGS 14:27). Every well-meaning parent pray for their children to conquer more grounds than they did. When the children fail to measure up, it brings shame and disappointments to the parents, especially if it attracts public attention. The case of Rehoboam is one of the most pathetic cases of wasted heritage recorded in the Bible. As a successor to King Solomon, Rehoboam had the best opportunities in life. He had the godly King David as grandfather and Solomon (the wisest and richest man) as father. Sadly, his seventeen year reign as king recorded unimaginable decline. Judah descended into gross idolatry and moral decay. Sin weakens, estranges one from God and renders one vulnerable to attack, just as Rehoboam yield

Satan Has no Power to Stop God

Wednesday 1 st August, 2018 Words of Life Daily Devotional Satan Has no Power to Stop God Memory Verse: - Ge 43:1 And the famine was sore in the land. Bible Reading: - Gen. 43: 1 – 34 A close look at what transpired between Joseph and his brothers showed that God has good thought about us, not an evil one, to give us our expected end. On the other hand, Satan our archenemy will not want God’s plan for our lives come true. But God in his wisdom does not reveal all he is about to do to us for reasons best known to him. If Satan had known that Joseph’s dream will be fulfilled or come to pass in Egypt, he would not have allowed him to be sold to Egypt as a slave. In like manner if devil and his cohorts had known that power to save the world from sin was hidden in Christ suffering, crucifixion and death on the cross, he would not have allowed him to be crucified. Believers should know that there is no crown without cross; the way of the cross leads home; weeping may endure

WHEN  GOD  MARVELS !

DAILY     MANNA TUESDAY  31ST JULY,  2018 WHEN  GOD  MARVELS ! TEXT: JEREMIAH 8:1-12 KEY VERSE: "Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return" (JEREMIAH 8:5). When a person deliberately ignores all that God has provided to help guide and keep him from being eternally lost but chooses to do otherwise, one wonders. Why will one continue to pursue a lifestyle when he knows the ruin of people who lived the same lifestyle? In the text, God obviously expressed wonder at the people of Jerusalem. In spite of their knowledge of the love and mercies, teachings and warnings, punishments and ruin He had brought upon the sinful and rebellious people, they continued in the act of deliberate rebellion and rejection of His Word. It baffled God that lesser creatures like the stork, turtle, crane and swallow observe their times, but His people are not able to read the signs. They deliberately turned their back

Molding You By Billy Graham   •   July 31   •   Topics: Faith

When we suffer and die for Christ it only means that we will begin living with him in heaven. —2 Timothy 2:11 (TLB) I have a friend who during the Depression lost his job, a fortune, a wife, and a home. But he tenaciously held to his faith—the only thing he had left. One day he stopped to watch some men doing stonework on a huge church. One of them was chiseling a triangular piece of stone. “What are you going to do with that?” asked my friend. The workman said, “See that little opening away up there near the spire? Well, I’m shaping this down here, so it will fit in up there.” Tears filled the eyes of my friend as he walked away, for it seemed that God had spoken through the workman to explain his ordeal through which he was passing, “I’m shaping you down here, so you’ll fit in up there.” Find encouragement in your suffering. Prayer for the day Thank You, Lord, for all the “shaping” in my life, which brings me closer to You.

Called unto Peace and Holiness

Tuesday 31 st July, 2018 Words of Life Daily Devotional Called unto Peace and Holiness Memory Verse: - Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Bible Reading: - 1Cor. 7: 1 – 40 Message The seventh chapter of first Corinthians was dedicated to marital issues and one of the reasons why we must marry is to avoid sexual pollutions, to avoid fornication and uncleanness which children of Israel tried and twenty one thousand of them perished in a day. Wife and husband should render unto each other due benevolent and they should not defraud or deny one another in sexual matters so as not to fall into the snare of the devil. This they ought to do to maintain holiness without which no man shall see God. Husband and wife must so coexist in such a way that young ones around them would want to marry and neighbours must also see Christ in them – they must be peaceful and peace loving people as becometh saints of God. A Covenant with Eyes By Billy Graham   •   July 30   •   Topics: Sin

Keep thyself pure. —1 Timothy 5:22 Someone has said, “You cannot help the first look, but the second is sin.” Jesus indicated that you can engage in immorality by a look. The Bible places the “lust of the eye” right along with other major sins. Listen: “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” Peter spoke of having “eyes full of adultery.” No wonder Job said, “I have made a covenant with my eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?” Your eyes see only what your soul allows them to see. What’s the difference between love and lust? Prayer for the day May my eyes be on You, Lord Jesus, for I need Your purity and love to fill my heart and mind.

HIS BALANCED PERSPECTIVE

MONDAY 30TH JULY, 2018 DAILY MANNA HIS BALANCED PERSPECTIVE TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 32:44-52 KEY VERSE:“Yet thou shalt see the land before thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel” (DEUTERONOMY 32:52). A robber’s dying testimony is most telling. He had been involved in an armed robbery and was condemned to face the firing squad. During the intervening period before the execution, he surrendered his life to Jesus. Though he wasn’t pardoned, he accepted his fate with dignified calmness, convinced that he was on his way to heaven. Many times, the consequences of sin play themselves out. Moses was an exemplary leader whose persona towered above the credentials of many. His obedience to God was legendary. His knack for details was unequalled. He spoke mouth to mouth with God and received rare glimpses of His glory. Yet, he was denied the ultimate glory of entering Canaan, just because of an unintentional refusal to sanctify the Lord before

Don't Believe the Devil's Lies

Health Food Devotional Don't Believe the Devil's Lies July 29, 2018 ...When he [the devil] speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44 ) After the woman died, this Assembly of God pastor said to me, "When the doctors performed an autopsy on her, they couldn't find any trace of cancer in any way, shape, or form in her body. Her liver was just as perfect as anyone else's liver. They couldn't find a trace of cancer. They don't know why she died."  I know why she died. She began to doubt. She let the devil in and began to believe that she had cancer. She began to believe his lies. The doctors said, "We can't find any reason why she died."  A miracle began in her life, yet she was robbed of the best that God had for her, because of doubt. I think if Jesus had been there to talk to her personally, He would have said, "O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?" In fact,

A Tender Conscience

Faith Food Devotional A Tender Conscience July 29, 2018 "Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron" (1 Tim. 4:2). Keep a tender conscience - don't violate it - because it is your conscience, the voice of your spirit, that relates to your mind what the Spirit of God is saying to you down inside. If you don't keep a tender conscience, spiritual things will not be clear to you. During the mid-30s, I pastored a country church and usually spent Sunday nights in the home of a dear old gentleman who was about eighty-nine years old. He and I didn't get up as early as the rest of his family on this farm, so we had breakfast together about 8 o'clock. He'd have one of those old-fashioned coffee pots sitting on the woodstove with the coffee just boiling in it. I've seen him pour that boiling coffee into a mug, hold it up to his mouth, and drink the whole cup of boiling coffee in one gulp. The first time I saw him do it, I fel

Believers’ Authority

Monday 30 th July, 2018 Words of Life Daily Devotional Believers’ Authority Memory Verse: - Job 22:28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways. Bible Reading: - Luke 7: 1 – 49 Message Believers are translated people who are reigning with Christ in heavenly places far above powers, principalities, rulers of darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places. Devil, demons and spirit of infirmities must be under their commands; they must obey them in Jesus name. The centurion told Jesus that he was a man under authority with soldiers under him; if he says unto one come he must come and to another go, he must obey; and that Jesus should speak the word alone and his servant shall be made whole. Jesus called this faith a great faith and that he had not seen this type of faith in Israel. Jesus had delegated this authority to believers when he said the work I do ye shall do and greater work

Faith Pleases God By Billy Graham   •   July 29   •   Topics: Faith

You can never please God without faith, without depending on him. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely look for him. —Hebrews 11:6 (TLB) Faith pleases God more than anything else. The Christian life is dependent upon faith. We stand on faith; we live on faith. Faith is loved and honored by God more than any other single thing. The Bible teaches that faith is the only approach that we have to God. No man has sins forgiven, no man goes to heaven, no man has assurance of peace and happiness, until he has faith in Jesus Christ. You may be saying, “God, I believe you are a great person, but I do not believe your Word; I do not believe what you say.” In order to please God, you must believe Him. Perhaps your faith is small and weak. It does not matter how big your faith is, but rather, where your faith is. Is it in Christ, the Son of God, who died on the cross for your sins? GOD NEVER FAILS

SUNDAY 29TH JULY, 2018 DAILY MANNA GOD NEVER FAILS TEXT: GENESIS 25:12-26 KEY VERSE: "And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived" (GENESIS 25:21). God does everything He promised. He is so faithful to keep His words to the minute details. In answer to Abraham’s unspoken question, He promised to bless Ishmael, though he was not his ordained heir. Another son, Isaac, would be born by sarah, to inherit Abraham’s possessions. Isaac would also be the carrier of God’s promises to make the descendants of Abraham a great nation. But because of Abraham, God would still not abandon Ishmael. In keeping with His word, God blessed Ishmael greatly. He gave him 12 sons; built them towns and castles, and made them princes. He also blessed him with long life. But He made Isaac greater, though he didn’t have as much freedom as Ishmael and he did not have as many sons as him. In reality, his w

Don't Let Doubt Rob You

Health Food Devotional Don't Let Doubt Rob You July 28, 2018 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? (Matt. 14:31) Many times a miracle begins in a person's life, and then doubt robs him or her of the full blessing. A miracle began in the life of Peter. He was walking on the water.  But that miracle was never consummated. That miracle never came into full fruition. Why? According to Matthew 14:31, he let doubt get in.  I was preaching along this line one time, and an Assembly of God pastor said, "I understand something now that I didn't understand before. As a young preacher, there were two women in my church. Both of them had cancer of the liver. By the time they both found out about it, they each had only a few weeks to live.  "About that time, a healing evangelist came to the church. He prayed for the sick by the laying on of hands. And both women were glorio

Inside Help

Faith Food Devotional Inside Help July 28, 2018 "And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men" (Acts 24:16). Soon after I was saved and healed, I returned to high school. Now, I don't know how it happened exactly - none of my family cursed - but we had a neighbor who could "cuss up a storm," and I guess I picked it up from him. So at school one day, I said to one of the boys, "Hell, no…." The minute I said it - and I didn't know a thing about the Spirit-filled life - in my heart I said, "Oh, dear God, forgive me!" What condemned me? The Holy Spirit? No. It was my own spirit. This new creature, this new creation, this new man, doesn't talk that way. Now, the flesh may want to continue doing some things it used to do, or talking like it used to talk, but you have to crucify the flesh. And a good way to crucify the flesh is to bring any problems right out into the open imme

Truth and Fiction By Billy Graham   •   July 28   •   Topics: Truth

. . make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom. —Psalm 145:12 Some years ago I heard about a clergyman who had a friend who was an actor. The actor was drawing large crowds of people, and the clergyman was preaching to a few in the church. He said to his actor friend, “Why is it that you draw great crowds, and I have no audience at all? Your words are sheer fiction, and mine are unchangeable truth.” The actor’s reply was quite simple. “I present my fiction as though it were truth; you present your truth as though it were fiction.” I fear that so often we Christians give the idea that the truth is fiction by the way we live and by the lack of dedication to the teachings of our Lord. We can all grow in our faith.  Browse these spiritual growth topics for answers and guidance. Prayer for the day Lord Jesus, I would completely yield my life to You, so that others may know that the Savior I love and serve is the truth!

Walk on the Water

Health Food Devotional Walk on the Water July 27, 2018 . . . And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.  (Matt. 14:29) In Matthew 14:28, Peter said, "...Lord if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water."  Jesus said, "Come."  Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water to go to Jesus. Notice that he walked on the water. Don't ever criticize Peter until you can walk on the water without sinking!  If you can walk on the water and not sink, then we'll accept your criticism. But don't criticize Peter. At least he did walk on the water.  On the other hand, you have no excuse to hide behind Peter, so to speak, and make excuses for why we fail to receive from God. The Bible tells us exactly why Peter began to sink. If we'll listen, we won't have to sink when our faith is tested.  Jesus didn't intend for us to sink as we're walking on the sea of life, and He didn't i

When You Miss It

Faith Food Devotional When You Miss It July 27, 2018 “For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God” (1 John 3:20-21).  If you’re a Christian, does the Holy Spirit condemn you if you do wrong?  No. It is your spirit that condemns you. This is something we need to learn. We haven’t learned it yet, because we’ve been taught wrong.  The Holy Spirit will not condemn you. Why? Because God won’t condemn you. Study what Paul wrote in Romans 8. He asked, “Who is it that condemns? Does God condemn? No, it is God who justifies.”  Jesus said that the only sin the Holy Spirit will convict the world of is the sin of rejecting Jesus (John 16:7-9).  I’ve found that even when I've missed it, the Holy Spirit in me is the One who shows me the way out. He comforts me. He helps me. He doesn’t condemn me.  So it is your conscience, the voice of your spirit that condemns you when

GO UP HIGHER

DAILY MANNA SATURDAY 28TH JULY, 2018 GO UP HIGHER TEXT: EXODUS 24:12-18 KEY VERSE: "And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them" (EXODUS 24:12). There are things you cannot get from God, and heights of spiritual experiences you cannot attain when you remain at the same level of being satisfied, not motivated to seek extraordinary accomplishments. The things that endure are not picked from the soft cushion of pleasure and indulgence, but with the sheer force of grit and perseverance. At the time in our text, Moses was about to receive the greatest message God has for man, the rules and regulations to moderate the conduct of men in all ages. It was too important that God could not hand it over to just anyone. Therefore, He singled out Moses. Moses embarked on this journey to the mountain with Joshua, but advisedly left hi

Sin not Against Your Own Body

Saturday 27th July, 2018 Words of Life Daily Devotional  Sin not Against Your Own Body  Memory Verse :- 1 Corinthians  6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. Bible Reading :- 1Cor 6: 1 - 20 Message Your body as a believer is the temple of God that must be kept holy for the scripture says holiness becometh thy house Oh Lord. Saints of God are commanded to abstain from every form of filthiness especially fornication and adultery because it is a sin against our body in which God dwells.  This commandment of God is not grievous to them that are born by Him for it is written that they that are born of God keep themselves and the wicked one [the devil] cannot touch them; this is the more reason why you need to abstain from fornication. If you go into it, it is not easy to be repented of because it demands open confession before you can be free. You will have to confess it

Obeying Conscience

Faith Food Devotional Obeying Conscience July 26, 2018 "And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, 'Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day'" (Acts 23:1).  It is interesting to go through the epistles that Paul wrote to the Church and see what he said about his conscience. He always obeyed his conscience.  Once I heard some preachers questioning one of the top evangelists in the world. They asked him, "We know God called and anointed you to stand in this ministry - but is there something that you do from the natural standpoint that contributes to the success of your ministry more than any other thing?"  I listened intently to hear what he had to say. I knew he was a man of prayer, and prayer is important, but he didn't mention prayer.  He answered, "Of course, God called me to be an evangelist. But you are asking what has contributed to my success from my standpoint. And the one thing I do th

Health Food Devotional Don’t Miss God's Best July 26, 2018 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.  (Heb. 3:19) Doubt and unbelief can rob you of the blessing God intended you should have. Doubt and unbelief will cause you to receive something less than God's best.  Let's look at an example of this in the Bible. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.  But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.  And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.  And immediately Jesus stretched forth

Give and Take By Billy Graham   •   July 27   •   Topics: Love

Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. —Ephesians 6:24 Certain relationships in life require from the parties involved only moderate degrees of devotion. A certain degree of reserve and distance seems to be suitable in such relations as these. But there are other relationships in life where all this is changed when friendship becomes love. Two hearts give themselves to each other to be no longer two, but one. Instead of being separated, their interest and paths are now together. The reserve and the distance suitable to mere friendships is fatal in real love. Love gives all and must have all in return. The wishes of the other party become binding obligations; and the deepest desire of each heart is to know every secret wish and longing of the other, in order that it may do all in its power to gratify those desires. Is that the kind of love, affection, and obedience you have for Christ? “The whole Bible is a love story,” Billy Graham once said.  Hear m

YOU  MUST  SHINE

DAILY      MANNA FRIDAY  27TH  JULY,  2018 YOU  MUST  SHINS TEXT: MARK 12:1-12 KEY VERSE: "And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner" (MARK 12:10). Believers are daily engaged in the battle of their lives; a war of attrition declared by the devil who is desperate to halt the realisation of God’s purpose in their lives. But God assured us of victory. However, the certainty of defeat is not a disincentive for the devil as it spurs him on to fight more fiercely, forcing lukewarm believers to buckle under. Little wonder Jesus admonished us to "watch and pray". Our text is a parable. The vineyard in the parable is the nation of Israel, and the owner of the vineyard is the almighty God Himself. He painstakingly cultivated Israel as the source of salvation to the whole world. But they and their leaders, the husbandmen, frustrated His plans. When He observed their unfaithfulness, He sent His servants -

The word of God had the power to save from sins, heal and deliver us from all our destructions. A lady sitting beside the boy asked him, “Are you tired of the long ride?” The little boy smiled and said, “I’m a little tired, but I don’t mind it much. You see, my father is going to meet me when I get to Los Angeles.” Sometimes we get a little tired of the burdens of life, but it is exhilarating to know that Jesus Christ will meet us at the end of life’s journey. BEING ONE WITH GOD

DAILY MANNA THURSDAY 26TH JULY, 2018 BEING ONE WITH GOD TEXT: ISAIAH 30:18-26 KEY VERSE: “And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him" (ISAIAH 30:18). The theologian, Albertus Pieters, wrote a book on “Divine Lord And Saviour” in which he spoke of a man call Old Pete. According to the author, Old Pete’s little education did not deny him a good understanding of the Bible. Old Pete was quoted thus: “If God should take me to the mouth of hell and say to me, ‘Here you go, Pete; this is where you belong’. I would say to Him, ‘That’s true, Lord I do belong here, but if You make me go to that place, Your Dear Son, Jesus Christ, must go with me. He and I are now one and We cannot be separated anymore”. That was a penetrating revelation which believers should be conversant with all their lives. We are knit to the L
