Teaching Should Come First

October 31
And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease
among the people.—MATTHEW 9:35
Teaching Should Come First
When Jesus encountered unbelief, He went about teaching (see Mark 6:5 and 6). Notice that the ministry of Jesus consisted of three aspects in this order: teaching, preaching, and healing. Many people want to reverse that order. They want healing first, then preaching, and no teaching. But if you want to get the results Jesus had, follow His example.
Let’s continue reading. MATTHEW 9:36–38
36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion [or mercy] on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but
the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth
labourers into his harvest. Now these laborers that are to be sent into the harvest should have the same kind of ministry that Jesus had: teaching,
preaching, and healing. Teaching should come first.
Confession:
I follow the ministry of Jesus. And if He emphasized teaching, then I emphasize teaching in my own life. I make sure that I receive good teaching from the Word of God to help build my faith.
