Message
A good follower must strive to be like his master like
every branch attached to a tree, since they receive saps and nutrients from
their host master. Jesus came not be ministered to but to minister and be
offered as sacrificial lamb for his people; he channeled the cause of salvation
and sent his follower to follow suit. All through his earthly ministry, he was
meek, lowly and gentile in the midst of ferocious Pharisees, Sadducees, Scribes
and gentiles who never saw anything good about his ministry. He was wise as the
wisdom of God knowing when to retreat to mountains for prayers alone with God
and when to re – fire in holding forth the word of life.
He sent out his twelve disciples according to our text
today challenging them to be watchful; to be wise like serpent and be as gentle
like dove. Having the knowledge of Christ through the inspired word of God
makes you wise unto salvation; makes you wise unto edification; makes you wise
unto preservation; makes you wiser than your unconverted teachers in the world;
makes you wise unto usefulness in the kingdom of God. Therefore, read, study
and meditate upon the word constantly and diligently, then apply the word to
every area of your life because knowledge applied is power and also the right
application of the word makes you wise.
Holding forth the word of life as you go about your
daily business out where the sinners are is wisdom and the power of God through
which sinners can be saved. While doing this, you must be as gentle as a dove,
you must be harmless. You seek for how to save souls and not to destroy them.
Like the early church who were threatened and beaten with many stripes coupled with
discouraging words not to preach the word again; yet in their humility and
harmlessness, they prayed and wicked cum injurious persecutors like Saul of Tarsus
became born again and were obedient to the faith.
You don’t pray down fire to consume the souls God
wants you to save; be compassionate; be harmless; be gentle like our master
Jesus. Attach yourself to him; cleave firmly unto him; have regular and
unbreakable fellowship with him alone and cooperatively with believers of like
precious faith. Get yourself nourished by him through the written words of God
and be partaker of his divine nature.
Confession of the Day
I am of Christ, he is my master and saviour, I look up
to him daily; he is my role model and I seek to be like him day by day.
Prayer Points
Oh! to be like thee my redeemer and my king; touch me
now and make me to be whom you want me to be. You made those fishermen, publicans
and tax collectors fishers of men; make me to be what you want me to be Oh dear
Lord.
