                Strong Believers
Memory Verse: - Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Bible Reading: - Luke 22: 1 – 71
Message
Some believers cringe, weep and become discouraged when they are face with challenges of life, adverse situations or life threatening problems like:
 Hagar despite the fact that she had been with Abraham’s family for so long a time, but did not learn to pray in time of adversity;
Children of Israel in the wilderness when they were faced with one problem or the other, rather they took to complaints and murmurings against God and his chosen servants;
Disciples of Christ in the garden of Gethsemane, rather they slept when they ought to agonize with the Lord in prayers.
Peter in the prison who thought it was over and gave in to fate rather than changing the whole thing through prayers, but thank be to God who motivated or inspired the church to pray for him.
On the other hand, believers like Abraham, Jacob, Daniel, Elijah, and our Lord Jesus Christ prayed earnestly in troublous times and fulfilled their ministry.
In our text today, our Lord Jesus was presented before us. He prayed more earnestly in agony and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling to the ground. He received strength sufficient enough to pass through the problem thereby pleasing the Lord and overcoming the flesh.
God knows that there are life threatening challenges here on earth to be faced by his people and that was why he said in Psalms 50 verse 15 that: “… call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”
Hannah used this weapon in her perplexed situation and was honoured by God; Jabez changed his name from being sorrowful child to more honourable child among his brethren; Jacob subdue evil intentions of Esau and he could not raised his sword against him, rather they reconciled in tears of joy; Daniel silenced the lions and his adversaries through the weapon of prayer and Jesus went through cruel beatings, scourging and even nailing on the cross without bitterness and animosity. Even though he was anointed without measures, he still prayed.
Behold the early church in Acts 4 verses 31 – 34, they prayed and received boldness and great grace to witness for the Lord. Henceforth, when you are faced with challenges of life, don’t forget to pray.
Confession of the Day
I will call upon God in times of adversity and shall hear me and deliver me from all my troubles.
Prayer Points: - Lord, teach me to pray and give me the spirit of supplication to pray as I ought to pray.
