Message
It is a common saying that “a prayer less Christian is a powerless Christian and vice versa” Jesus when he was about to go through torture, beatings, scourging and cruel crowing of thorns warned his disciples to watch and pray, so that they do not fall into temptation. He knows best, he knew what was about to befall him and what disciples would possibly do at that moment, hence he warned them ahead. And he said in the scriptures that what he told them, he tells every one of us – watch and pray: [Mk 13:37]
A watchful and prayerful believer will not fall into temptation because at the point of prayer greater grace is received; grace is multiplied. This happened to the early church in Acts 4 verses 31 and 33:
Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
Acts 4:33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
Jesus was able to endure the cross because he had tarry and agonized in prayer at Gethsemane so much that great grace was upon him with the anointing of the Holy Spirit. He settled it all on his knees before he was arrested.
Disciples were later threatened not to preach in the name of Jesus again, but they gathered and prayed and were refilled by the Holy Ghost with boldness and great grace. Therefore, they did not fall into the trial of not preaching the gospel and the fear of men. If you tarry in prayers likewise, you will be filled with Holy Ghost which will embolden you to preach the word fearlessly.
In addition to prayers, you must watch over your life in Christ in all manner of conversation which will make you see evil communication and bad deeds you need to jettison.
Peter presumptuously denied the Lord thrice before coming back to himself because he was unable to watch and pray when he was commanded by the Lord; he relied on his sword and human strength by which no man will ever prevail. But there is power in the name of Jesus, blood of Jesus and promises of the Lord when claimed in prayers. Therefore, employ these weapons of believers diligently and you shall be strong to overcome temptations and trials in the Lord.
Confession of the Day
I will pray and watch in the same, so that I don‘t fall into temptation.
Prayer Point
Heavenly father, give me the spirit of supplication to help my infirmity to pray with groaning that cannot be altered diligently and earnestly.
