The Word of Life Daily Devotional
He is with Us
Memory verse: - The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah (Psalm 46:11)
Bible Reading: - Psalm 46: 1 – 11
Message
Israel got the promise land of Canaan back from the heathen dwellers not by their might but by mighty arms of the Lord of host. The psalmist who had seen him at work in battles testified “the Lord of hosts is with us; God of Jacob is our refuge”. He troubled the host of king Pharaoh; made his chariots wobble till they perished in the red sea. He rolled stones from above upon the Philistines and crushed Goliath before David which made his (Goliath) followers or band of army to flee in terror and were totally overcome by the Israel army. The anointing of the Lord was upon David and he went from strength to strength conquering and devouring enemy nations till God gave Israel peace round about. He saw how God normally confused their enemies and overthrow them in battles; truly the Lord is their strength.
Today, according to the Psalmist in verse 5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. The pronoun Her refers to the Church in the new testament. Christ is Immanuel – God with us and he told his followers while leaving the earth physically that they should not forget the fact that he is with them always even to the end of the world. And this the reason why the gate of hell cannot overcome the church today.
Our God is Omnipresence God, he is everywhere and his power is everywhere withersoever we are and nothing can happen to you without him knowing of it; therefore, you need not fear what man can do unto you for he will help you and that early, he is never late. When the three Hebrews were throne into the fiery furnace, he was right there to deliver them; he went before Daniel into the lion’s den to shut the mouth of ferocious and hungry lions from hurting his beloved.
In the new testament, he set Peter free from prison and deliver Paul and Silas from the bondage of haters of the gospel. The end of the world has not come which means he is still with us (the believers) to save from troubles, to heal us and deliver us from the wiles of the devil. Therefore, be still, and know that he is God that will be exalted among the heathen, he will be exalted in the earth. He will fight for you, preserve you to his heavenly kingdom where you will eventually be crowned, he will not leave you nor forsake you.
Just flee to him with boldness to receive strength and courage in times of need, he is your refuge; he is your strong tower; he will not suffer your feet to be moved. Behold, he is with you even to the end of the world; nothing to fear; nothing to worry about for he well able to succour, preserve, provide and have your need met; cleave unto Him.
Confession of the Day
The Lord is my refuge and buckler, I will trust Him evermore.
Prayer Points
In distresses, trials and tribulations help me not to take to the arms of the flesh, but to solely rely on you as my shade, shield and buckler; suffer not my feet to be moved. Help me to remain immovable, steadfast and be abounding in God’s business here on earth.
