Took the Word with Them
Memory verse: - Acts 8:4: - Therefore
they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word.
Bible
Reading: - Acts 8: 1 – 40
Message
Jesus left the disciples in Jerusalem and not in
Rome as claimed by some Christian assemblies. There they were baptized in the
Holy Ghost and waxed great in number, but refused to go out to other parts of
the world as commanded by the Lord, hence came the persecution to make them
scatter abroad all over the world.
Preaching the word to every creature and persecution
as a result of that is the will of God for all sincere and fervent Christians.
Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we
have left all, and have followed thee. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say
unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or
father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,
But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and
sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the
world to come eternal life.[Matt
10:28 – 30]
Believers
walk in the light of the word while the world walks in darkness; the two are at
variance to each other and here lies why the world hates true believers because
their presence expose the works of the world that it is evil, therefore he that will live godly in this
present world shall suffer persecution.
The Lords expects that we come together in his holy
place of worship to hear from him and then go out preaching the word everywhere
we go – to our neighbours, colleagues, family members and every creatures of
God. This is the great lesson we ought to learn today from those believers that
were scattered abroad; they suffered the loss of their properties and place of
abode; but the word was in them like a spring of water and could not be taken
from them like their properties; they went about preaching the word and turned
the then world upside down for the Lord. Truly speaking, we have the word in us
like them but the Holy Ghost in them made the difference because he will make the word in us to be like fire
shut up in our bones.
And when they had prayed, the place was
shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the
Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.[ Acts 4:31]
We need to step up our faith and prayer life to the point
of receiving real Christian experience of baptism of Holy Ghost that make us effective
in this great commission of the Lord. Take the word with you everywhere you go.
Confession of the Day: - I will preach
the word while it is day night cometh when I will not be able.
Prayer Points: - Lord, fill me with the
power of Holy Ghost to live and preach the word in holiness everywhere I go in Jesus
name [Amen].
