Israel of God
Memory verse: - Heb 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house;
whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the
hope firm unto the end.
Bible Reading: - Heb 3: 1: 1 – 19
Message
In our
passage this morning, Paul the writer of the book was a holy apostle called by
Christ himself and in his faithfulness to God he was inspired by the Holy
Spirit to talk about the faithfulness of Moses in comparison to that of Christ
himself who is the master over the house which is the church of God purchased
by his own blood – t he present Israel of God [you and I], the believers.
The
standard should be maintained if we have hope of entering into the kingdom of
God. Moses, Paul and we are all given a heavenly calling which we rightly
responded to in turning away from darkness onto the light of God; from
unfaithfulness to faithfulness in all matters [both physical and spiritual],
from evil heart of unbelief to righteousness of God; for it is counted unto us
for righteousness immediately we accepted Christ as our personal Lord and
saviour. The standard is that we must hold fast the confidence and rejoicing of
the hope firm to the end. We must hold fast the faithfulness to the very end
for God demanded it in 1Co 4:2 that “moreover it is required in stewards, that a man
be found faithful” Unfaithfulness to
God in any matter will close the door against you; no fornication, no adultery,
falsification of records and unfaithfulness in general will not enter therein.
Faithfulness
will make you value and read the word of God like Berean believers for
carelessness in this area can make an evil heart of unbelief to set in so much
that a person departs from the living God into idolatry, occultism and
worldliness like Demas who love this present world and departed from following
Christ and went back into the world. This kind of a thing provokes God and many
of those he brought out from Egypt by his own mighty hand and bare them of His
own eagle’s wing perished in the wilderness because of unbelief that made them
err always in their hearts.
Be well persuaded
as the spiritual Israel of God; let your conviction about following Christ be
resolute, total, absolute, deep, rooted and unshakable. This is possible if you
determine to know God yourself because it is one thing for somebody to tell you
about somebody, but it is more convincing if you have personal encounter with
that person. And this was why David told Solomon his son that “And thou, Solomon
my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and
with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all
the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee;
but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off forever” [1Ch 28:9]
David knew
God personally and he encouraged his son Solomon to seek him and he will be found
of him and if not God will not force himself on him – He will cast him off forever.
Seek God, draw near to him and He [God] will draw near to you; otherwise, you become
cast away forever. Beware of evil heart of unbelief, let it not have dominion over
you, have a nice day.
Confession
of the Day:
- By the grace of God as an Israel of God, evil heart of unbelief in departing from
God to idolatry and worldliness shall not be my portion in Jesus name. I am standing
on Christ the rock, I shall not be moved.
Prayer
Points: -
keep me Lord Jesus, keep me Lord; help me to run the race to the end; toughen my
spiritual muscles daily and widen my spiritual horizon every day. Deliver me from
evil heart of unbelief in Jesus name [Amen].
