The Wicked and
the Righteous
Memory verse: - Ps 1:6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the
righteous: but the way of the ungodly [wicked] shall perish.
Bible Reading: - Psalm 1: 1 – 6
Message
In the
book of Psalm 1, the righteous and the wicked are clearly compared with their
benefits and it lies in you to choose which one to be like Moses told the
children of Israel in the book of Deuteronomy that:
Dt 11:26 Behold, I set
before you this day a blessing and a curse; 27 A blessing, if ye obey the
commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day: 28 And a
curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn
aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods,
which ye have not known.
The
righteous are the people in Christ who by obedience to the gospel are made the
righteousness of God through Christ Jesus. Their attitude to God’s word is
right and they believe in "speak dear Lord, thy servant heareth"; they are ready
to hear and do the revealed will of God without anybody coaxing and pushing
them, their heart is ready and fixed on obeying God implicitly. As long as you
abide and remain in Christ, you will be like a tree planted by the river side
and will prosper in all your endeavors, you will not lack even in the time of
famine because you are the blessed, favoured, fortunate and prosperous child of
God. In addition, you will delight in reading and meditating on God’s word
because it will be meaningful to you every time you read it – there will be
revelations, inspirations and clear understanding of the word.
But the
wicked, ungodly [those who live in disobedience to God’s word] shall reap the
judgment of God and their way shall perish; they shall be like chaff [worthless
and without substance} which the wind blows away.
Fret not
because of the wicked rather warn them so that they can live and reap the
favour of God here and hereafter. It pays to serve God in obedience, sincerity
and integrity of heart which make God to be with you always making you to have
the expected end. But the wicked will suddenly perish and will not live to
enjoy the product of his unrighteous gain.
Jer 17:11 As the
partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches,
and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end
shall be a fool.
Confession
of the Day
I chose to
be righteous in all my undertakings and this is 100% possible for me because I can
do all things through Christ Jesus whom strengthens me.
Prayer
Points
Christ Jesus, uphold me
to remain in you and you in me, for in thee alone I can righteously prosper here
and hereafter. Forsake me not Oh Lord my God for my trust is ever in you alone.
