MEMORY
VERSE: - Mal 1:3
And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons
of the wilderness.
BIBLE
READING: - Mal 1: 1- 5
MESSAGE
We
have been commanded in the bible that we should not hate anyone without a
cause; for he that hateth his brother without a cause is a murderer [1Jn3: 15].
Hence we should not hate anyone at all whatever happens; love and hate not, abstain
from all appearance of evil.
God
said he hates Esau because he was a profane person [someone who desecrates holy
things; who counts as an unholy thing his birthright ordained by God]. God is
saying he has more love for Jacob and less love for Esau.
Jacob
listened to his parents; sought after God and even laid altar for God at
Bethel, but Esau went into unequal yoke in marriage with revengeful spirit
against Jacob his brother. He had hatred of bitterness for years.
You
should passionately hate sin and evil in the evil doers not those people
themselves, this will compel you not to be selfish in your prayers, rather you
must passionately pray for their salvation. This is why the bible says in Eph 6:12 that “For
we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual
wickedness in high places”
So
we wrestle not with people we see, but the evil and evil spirit controlling
them so that they can be liberated from bitterness and hatred to serve the
living God in love. Knowing this will help us not to hate anyone but to pray for
them.
God
loves the whole world and that is why he sent Jesus to come for our salvation.
He loves sinners but hates the sin in them and he keeps on warning them to turn
away from sin. His eyes are so pure that it cannot behold an iniquity.
God
is our creator and he loves us, even Esau that he said he hates; it is the
hatred of comparison not of bitterness; more love for Jacob because of his
devotion to God and less love for Esau because of his profane and revengeful
nature. He loves you but hates your sins therefore repent and be converted to
reap more love of God.
His
love blesses Esau with great possession and children; His love preserved him
till he was able to see Jacob again. Remember that the goodness of God leads to
repentance [Rom 2:4] so that he can draw closer to you and all other things
shall by His love be added unto you.
God
does not hate you, but he hates your iniquities and all his goodness towards
you is to make you repent, don’t despise this kind gesture of God, but turn
from evil and be more devoted to him to reap more of his love.
Prayer Point
Lord I covet your
love and goodness, hence forgive me my sins and adopt me into your family,
henceforth I detest Satan and his deed; I pledge my devotion to you and you
alone.
