GOD OF MERCY (I)
DAILY READING
SCRIPTURE READING: JUDG. 2:13-18
But thou O Lord, art a God full of compassion and gracious, long- suffering and plenteous in mercy and truth." (Psalm 86:15).
Hear this:God's mercy and grace is always available for the sincere seekers.
Beloved, please take note; the best way out of every challenges is to carefully wait upon the Lord and engage Him in effectual, fervent prayers. According to our anchor scripture above, Our God indeed is a merciful father, full of compassion, gracious, long-suffering and plenteous in mercy and truth. God
is not like many of our earthly fathers who find it difficult to forgive their
children who offend them. No matter the degree and gravity of the offense, when God sees a genuine repentance, He forgives by His mercy. I pray for every user of this devotional, in this year and beyond, you shall receive and enjoy God's mercy and pardon in every situation of your life in Jesus name.
Just imagine the scene of a grieving father standing before a stubborn and way-ward son and pleading with him to renounce his destructive lifestyle, that should touch any reasonable person. That is exactly the case between God and His children. May your character not grieve God any longer in Jesus
Name.
In our passage, the Children of Israel were constantly disobeying God's
commands and instructions. They often forsook God for the worship of other gods, yet we see the picture of the patient Almighty God severely wronged by His children, but still calling on them for repentance; indeed that is an overwhelming testimony of the bottomless mercy of God as against the extreme iniquity of man. Each time they sinned against God, He will hand
them over to their enemies and at the same time still watch over them to deliver them from the hands of their enemies. That is the character of a
merciful father. But note: God loves you but hates sinful nature, therefore out of His mercy, he will execute judgement over any unrepentant sinner on the last day. So be warned.
My counsel: Make God your Father indeed. Make up your mind to serve God in obedience. Do not hesitate to repent of any known sin no matter how grievous. Say no to sinful and ungodly habits, embrace holiness at all cost.
Our God is a merciful God. Be a sincere seeker of God.
Remember: God's mercy and grace is always available for the sincere
seekers.Receive a fresh baptism of grace to live a life that will please God and attracts His mercy and favour to you in Jesus Name.
Prayer:
1. Father, thank you for your mercy and love towards me and my loved
ones.
2. O Lord, by your mercy, deliver me from the hands of the oppressors
and spoilers of life and destiny.
3. I ask for the grace to live a life of absolute obedience to the
commands of God.
4. Merciful God, send me helpers in Jesus Name.
