Watch and be Sober
Memory Verse: - 1Th 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
Bible Reading: - 1Th 5: 1 – 28
Message
Paul wrote to the Thessalonians reminding them to remain rapturable, to be watchful and sober, temperate, grave, moderate and not slothful in spiritual matters for the coming of the Lord shall be unannounced, just like that of a thief in the night. Dark passions subdued, mortify the deeds of the flesh, walk in the spirit, and by so doing not fulfilling the desires of the flesh which is our closest enemy.
We are serving the same God they served who had placed the same standard before us, he has not for one day lowers or changes the standard which is without peace with men and transparent holiness we cannot see him. Let us therefore be sober, grave, temperate and watchful over our Christian life and ministry.
He is not slack concerning his promise; he will come at any time to catch away the saints that are watching the way for his return. So you must daily live with expectation of the Lord’s return and do all things possible to remain rapturable.
Never live carelessly, do not play with sin, be prayerful for in this lies the secret of receiving grace and has your strength renewed day by day. If you by these things and others that Holy Spirit shall reveal to you cleave to the Lord, you shall do well and not be ashamed before him at his appearing.
To be temperate, you must read your Bible every day, meditate and pray in the word as well as prepared to carry out the word to the very end.
Do not live a lopsided life, balance the secular with the spiritual; in business you should not be slothful, and in spiritual matters you should be fervent.
Learn from Daniel in Babylon, he prays three times a day and in business other wicked princes were unable to accuse him of any fault. If Daniel can do it then, you can do better today if you allow the word and his spirit to control the affairs of your life. Let Christ be at the centre of your heart and you will find it easy to watch and pray for his return as a child of the light and not of darkness.
Confession of the Day
I will by his grace watch over my salvation and manner of life in conjunction with his word as I daily pass through this world of sin. I will walk by faith and not by sight; I shall be grave and temperate.
Prayer Points

Thank you Lord for saving me and keeping me in thy kingdom till now; give me grace to watch and be sober in anticipation for your return. Help me to remain rapturable all the time.
