Not by Might
Memory Verse: - Zec 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
Bible Reading: - Psalm 127: 1 – 5
Message
Another year begins today with a gracious opportunity to serve the Lord better than the previous years. That you and I are alive today is the Lord’s doing, not by our carefulness, cautions and self righteousness; it is by the grace of God; it is not by power, nor by might, but by the spirit of God. The owner of your soul had given you another opportunity to make your ways right before him and this you need to make haste and do because his coming is near at the door.
Isa 55:6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
You cannot serve God your own way, but the Lord’s way; this you cannot naturally do and that was why Jesus died for us when we were without strength to live domineeringly over the devil and his wiles. Our might had failed us and our understanding which we leaned upon had derailed us from God of heaven. Henceforth, I admonish you to cleave unto Jesus the power and wisdom of God so that you can receive power to be a real child of God.
As a believer already in Christ Jesus, do not be slothful in business; you must be fervent in spirit serving the Lord. Remain unmovable and abound more and more in the Lord’s service of love.
Do not rely on your wisdom and strength, but upon God who is able to do exceeding abundantly far beyond our imagination. You can do this by reading and meditating upon God’s word diligently coupled with earnest prayers and watchfulness
Reading, meditating and praying steadily is a sign of humility and reliance upon God alone like Daniel in Babylon, like Joseph in Egypt and like disciples of Christ in Acts 6: 1 – 4; they gave themselves to prayers and ministry of the word
More power and great grace to live holily everyday you will receive as you daily observe your personal devotion before the Lord that seeth in secret; who will also reward you openly and abundantly.
Confession of the Day
My might and strength are not enough to carry me through spiritually, I will daily wait upon the Lord for the renewal of my spiritual strength.
Prayer Points
Heavenly father, help me to serve you better this year; empower me to do you’re your will all the time.
