GIVE THE MORE EARNEST HEED
MEMORY VERSE: - Heb 2:1 therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
BIBLE READING: - Gen 10:1 – 32
MESSAGE
The spirit of God enjoins, charges, or directs us to give the more earnest heed to the word of God we read and hear diligently and the reason for this is that the word will not slip; we will not forget the word. The danger in not giving the more earnest heed to the word of God is that we can easily slip into error and displease the Lord.
From today’s Bible passage, the children of Noah all together went into error of building the city of Babel so that they can be together and will not scatter abroad on the earth. This is contrary to the express command of God to them in the previous chapter:
Gen 9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
If they do not scatter they will not be able to replenish the earth as God commanded. It happened to them this way because nobody was able to remind them that it was contrary to God’s command. They have forgotten the word and the charge of God to them to replenish the earth and not to be together in one place.
The outcome of it was that they reaped the displeasure of God and their effort was in vain because God confused them by scattering their language and they left of building the city.
Our God is a wise God who knows how to make his children do his will. They were not flogged or rebuked in any way, he simply scatter them through diverse tongue and confusion of language.
We learnt here that God can confuse the language of those that are not ready to do his will even if they are speaking the same language; they will not simply understand one another and then it will be to your tent oh Israel.
2Ch 20:22 – 23  And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.
Vengeance belongs to God, do not take his place by calling down fire upon your enemies; he knows how best to deal with them as long as you remain in his will. Jehoshaphat the king and his people at this time was in the will of God while those that come together to destroy them were confounded, they turned against one another and killed one another.
But God demands unison in things that will promote his course and populate the kingdom of heaven. According to
1Co 1:10 we are to speak the same thing; be of the same mind and perfectly joined together. Even the early church disciples of Christ in Jerusalem were scattered abroad by persecution and they went everywhere preaching the word, which is the will of God for them.
Be united in the wills of God and detach yourself from any conspiracy against the will of God for your own good.
Confession of the Day
I will shun and abhor all conspiracy against the revealed will of God
Prayer Points
God help me to always remember your word and to as well do it.
Deliver me from disunity spirit working against the will of God
Deliver me from presumptuous sin of taking your place in vengeance, but avenge me accordingly from enemies of my soul.
