This pastor was fifty-six years old. At the age of thirty-nine, he discovered that he had diabetes. So for seventeen years, he had given himself a shot of insulin every day. This pastor was a good man and had a wonderful church. But somehow, he had failed to grasp healing. Now I didn’t talk to him personally. I think that sometimes people are sitting around waiting for God to initiate something. And sometimes God does initiate something on His own. But people don’t have to just sit around and wait on Him. People are always asking me if they should take their medicine or not. I tell them to wait until the Lord tells them to stop taking it. Don’t stop taking your medicine because I told you to do it. I’m not going to tell you what to do. I’m not opposed to doctors. Thank God for medical science. They’re against the same things I’m against; they’re fighting sickness and disease too. This gentleman mentioned that he had been an officer in the United States Army. At the time of the meeting in Phoenix, he was retired and had just gotten out of the veterans’ hospital for the third time. He had been in the hospital trying to be cured of alcoholism. But he came out drinking. He had also admitted himself into three different private hospitals trying to be cured of alcoholism. He finally got down on his knees and began to pray. He said, “Lord, I knew You when I was young. Take me back. I’m a wayward child. Forgive me. Like the prodigal son of old,

She couldn’t hear without her hearing aid. In fact, she said, “I can’t even get half the message with my hearing aid on and sitting right under the speaker. I need to hear the Word.” I laid hands on her ears. Instantly, she could hear a watch tick out of either ear! That was quite obvious. She was there two more weeks in every service. She didn’t need her hearing aid. She was talking to everyone in normal tones. Now she had fallen and broken her hip some time before, so she used a walking stick to walk. As she walked away, I said, “Wait a minute!” She turned and looked. This was back in the late 1930s before miracle drugs. She just grew steadily worse. Of course, in those days, we didn’t have the hospitals we have today. Doctors made house calls at that time. Well, the doctor came and did what he could do. The doctor told the husband that unless there was a change, she would not live past midnight that night. The husband, who wasn’t saved, decided to call the church and ask if some Christians could go over to the house. The pastor and several members went to the house. They anointed the woman with oil, laid hands on her, and prayed. Now she had been almost unconscious, but she came right out of it and began to laugh and sing

May 19,2021 . . . they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.—MARK 16:18 Who Is Qualified to Lay Hands on the Sick? We’ve looked at this scripture before in explaining that not all healings are instantaneous. Now let’s look at the previous verse, Mark 16:17. “And these signs shall follow THEM THAT BELIEVE. . . .” These signs, such as laying hands on the sick, shall follow believers. Who shall lay hands on the sick? Believers shall lay hands on the sick. You see, laying on of hands is more than a sign. It is also a New Testament doctrine. It’s one of the fundamental principles of the doctrine of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the early 1930s when tuberculosis was rampant, he was raised up from his deathbed. He was a young married man. He and his wife had a little baby. One way is to simply know what the Word of God says for yourself and then act on it. You don’t have to pray. You don’t have to get anyone else to pray. May 10,2021 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?—AMOS 3:3 Agree and Then Don’t Back Down! In 1949 I was holding a meeting in Plainview, Texas, at the First Assembly of God Church. Christmas was coming up, and I needed some extra money for Christmas presents. I wrote to my wife, “At three o’clock on Sunday afternoon, you open your Bible there in Garland, Texas, to Matthew 18:19, and I’ll open my Bible here in Plainview. We’ll agree that the offering will be a particular amount on Sunday night.” You see, you can be in agreement in spirit and not be with the other person physically. I preached on the last Sunday night before Christmas. And in all the hustle and bustle of special Christmas programs, the ushers forgot to count the offering. The pastor found the offering plates and brought them back to the parsonage. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.—MATTHEW 18:19–20 God Keeps His Word The negative side of Matthew 18:19 and 20 is that if you don’t agree, it won’t be done. Isn’t that simple? You see, we try to make the truth of God so complicated, but He has made it so simple. Time and time again, as I have acted on these verses of Scripture—as I have agreed with someone in prayer—such marvelous things have happened. And it will work for you too! God said that He watches over His Word to make it good. Jeremiah 1:12 says, “. . . for I will hasten my word to perform it.” The margin says, “I watch over my Word to perform it.” If we would look for as many reasons for God to keep His Word and for it to work as we do for it not to work, God’s Word would always work for us. What is Jesus doing there in the midst of them? He’s there to make good on what they ask and agree upon, because He said in John 14:14, “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” Many times, though, people lack agreement. For example, if something you’re agreeing on concerns another person, that other person will have to agree with you too. It won’t work in disagreement. Get him or her to agree with you. It wasn’t terminal, but it was an incurable condition she’d had most of her life. Doctors in the Dallas/Fort Worth area had treated her. She and her husband had spent thousands of dollars. She said to me, “I thought I had been standing in faith for nineteen years and the manifestation just hadn’t come. But when I heard you teaching, I realized that I was praying for my healing over and over again instead of just agreeing that it was done. I decided to find someone to agree with me that I’m healed. May 3,2021 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.—JAMES 1:8 A Double-Minded Man As soon as the pastor began praying, I heard the following in my spirit: “Now they’ve taken her out of My hands and she’ll die. Within three days, she’ll be dead.” I knew it was the voice of the Lord speaking to me. On the third day, the woman died, just as the Lord said. You see, we had placed her in God’s hands and then we took her out of God’s hands. What should we have done? Instead of praying for her complete healing again, we should have stood in agreement and said, “We are going to stand up and agree that she is well. We are going to thank God for it.” That way, we would have stayed in faith. Many times, a whole church places a person in God’s hands and then turns right around and takes him out of God’s hands. God wants to heal the person, but He can’t. Why? God operates on certain laws and principles. Confession: I cooperate with God and stay in faith. Instead of praying for my healing ove
