DIVINE WISDOM

Image
OPEN HEAVENS 2017 Thursday August 31st 2017 Memorize:  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraifeth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5 Read:  Daniel 1:18-20 (KJV) 18 Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. 19 And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king. 20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm. Bible in one year:  1st Chronicles 25:27, Ezekiel 33:21-29 MESSAGE  Wisdom is the quality of discerning what is true, what is ethically right, and what should be done in different situations. Wisdom is fundamentally practical in nature. Although God alone possesses wisdom

Hope Beyond Death

Image
The righteous hath hope in his death. —Proverbs 14:32 We don’t like to talk about death; it’s the forbidden subject of our generation. Yet it’s real for all of us. Sometimes on television I see motion pictures featuring actors who are no longer living. They seem very much alive in the picture, but they are dead. Some of them were my personal friends. Death is real, and when we die, that is a battle we have to fight all alone. Nobody can be with us in that hour, but David said he had found an answer that would take the fear of death away. David said that there is an answer to death, there is a hope beyond death. That hope is centered in the risen Christ. Paul wrote that to be “absent from the body” is to be “present with the Lord.” So the fear of death is removed. Watch: Billy Graham preaches how to be ready for Heaven . Prayer for the day Lord Jesus, with complete trust I look toward that day when my soul will be with You for ete

SERVE GOD TRULY

Image
THURSDAY, AUGUST 31, 2017 2 KINGS 10:18-30 KEY VERSE: "And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel" One of the greatest problems with many countries today is bad leadership. The tragedy of it all is that all the shortcomings of the past governments for which they were either toppled as in a military coup or voted out through the ballot box, are hardly corrected; they get worsened by succeeding administrations. This terrible scenario is also found in Christendom nowadays. Jehu fulfilled the prophecy of Elijah but the fact that he deliberately did not do away with idol worship in the land was an indication that he was pursuing a personal agenda to secure his reign. He did not continue with total obedience to the law of God. He continued in the sins of Je

Health Food Devotional August 31, 2017 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. (John 2:5) In John chapter 2, we see the account of Jesus attending the wedding in Cana with his mother. His mother told Him that they had run out of wine.  Jesus said to the servants, "...Fill the waterpots with water.." (John 2:7).  Let's continue reading in John. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. (John 2:7-10) The water became wine. Now what if the servants had stood there and said, "W

Obeying Your Spirit

Image
Faith Food Devotional August 31, 2017 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Tim. 3:16-17). Did you notice that meditating in the Word, practicing the Word, and giving the Word first place - the first three steps in training the human spirit - come before obeying your spirit? If your spirit has had the privilege of meditating in the Word, of practicing the Word, of putting the Word first, then your spirit is an authoritative guide. In the process of time, if you will follow the four steps we have just studied, you can know the will of God even in all the minor details of your life! But for this to happen, God's Word, not human reasoning, must dominate your thinking. The Word has been given to us by the Holy Spirit. If the Word is dominating us, then the Holy Spirit is dominating our th

GOD OF THE SMALL THINGS TOO

Image
Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread… Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.” John 21:9, 12 Like many parents, Wendy and I pray for our daughter Jessica every night before she sleeps. When Jessica was two years old, we decided to pray that her diapers would not overflow during the night. Her diapers not overflowing might be a small thing, but we knew that it would give our little girl a comfortable sleep every night. And after we started praying for this, we noticed that her diapers did not overflow. That incident made me realize that our God is not just interested in the big things that affect us. He bothers and cares about the minor things that affect us too. There is nothing too insignificant for Him. So don’t be like some religious people who have this idea that God only wants us to bring the big issues to Him, and that He doesn’t want us to bother Him with small issues. Nothing could be further from

Make Room in Your Heart

Image
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven . . .  —Matthew 5:43–45 When H. G. Wells summed up the influence of Jesus in history, he said, “Is it any wonder that this Galilean is too much for our small hearts?” And yet the heart of man, though small, is big enough for Christ to live in, if man will only make room for Him. Christ instilled the spirit of Christian love in His followers, so that they lived without malice and died without rancor. The love that Christ talked about can only be given to us by God. It is one of the fruits of the Spirit. When you come to Jesus Christ, He transforms you. Your past is forgiven. You receive a power to love men, beyond your natural ability to love. Prayer for the day Instill i

SURE AVENUES TO COMFORT

Image
OPEN HEAVENS 2017  Wednesday August 30th 2017 Memorise:  For whatsoever things were written a fore time were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4 Read:  Romans 15:4-5 (KJV) 4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. 5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: Bible in one year:  1st Chronicles 22-24, Ezekiel 33:10-20 MESSAGE  We are blessed to have a God that does not desert those who belong to Him. In Hebrews 13:5, God promised never to leave nor forsake His own. The divine presence of the Great Shepherd strengthens His sheep, so much so that they entertain no fear. If you are His sheep, He is always with you; even when you cannot feel Him. Do you know that in those moments when it appears as if God has gone on a j

RELEASE THE ANOINTING INTO YOUR SITUATION

Image
Leviticus 2:1 ‘When anyone offers a grain offering to the Lord, his offering shall be of fine flour. And he shall pour oil on it, and put frankincense on it. The grain offering in the Old Testament speaks of Jesus’ sacrifice, and oil in the Bible speaks of the anointing of the Holy Spirit. So the grain offering of fine flour, which had oil poured on it, speaks of Jesus’ humanity being anointed by the Holy Spirit. Jesus is fully God. But when He came to earth, He literally emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant. (Philippians 2:7) That is why He needed to be anointed of the Holy Spirit before He could begin His ministry. (John 1:33) Though fully God, He did things by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was anointed to bring the blessings of God into the lives of people. He first spoke of His anointing when He was preaching in His hometown—“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has  anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor…” (Luke 4:18) Today, Jesus’

ACCEPTABLE FELLOWSHIP

Image
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30, 2017 EPHESIANS 5:10-20 KEY VERSE: "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret" (Ephesians 5:11,12). A Christian youth worker, warned of the danger of fraternizing with his former club members, told his counsellor that there was nothing to worry about as he was spiritually strong enough to resist their attempts to lure him back. One evening, a former friend in the club rushed to his house and gave him a bag to keep for him and that he would return later to take it. Soon after, the police, acting on a tip off, came in hot pursuit of the man and not finding him arrested the Christian worker and when the bag was searched a short gun was found neatly wrapped and concealed in the bag’s interior. Promptly, the Christian worker was arrested and taken away. Paul here, admonishes against slipping back to the world to

At Thy Word, I Will

Image
Health Food Devotional August 30, 2017 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. (Luke 5:5) In Luke chapter 5, we see an example of a person who acted on the Word and got results. Peter and John had been fishing. They had fished all night and had caught nothing.  Then Jesus told Peter, "...Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught" (Luke 5:4).  Peter said, "...Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net" (Luke 5:5).  What change would come in our lives if we said, "At Your Word, I will!" What change would come if we would just do it because the Word said so, whether we felt like it or not.  You see, we've clung to the theories of men and have ignored the living Word of God. Healing and victory belong to you and to me. The Bible tells us so. So adopt as

Giving the Word First Place

Image
Faith Food Devotional August 30, 2017 "Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors" (Ps. 119:24). When the crises or tests come, too many Christians say, "What are we going to do now?" The crises of life come to us all. But if you are Word-oriented, the first thing you will think about is, "What does the Word say about it?" I pastored nearly twelve years, and I found that churches have problems just like families do. They have discipline problems, financial problems, and so forth. I never discussed church problems with the people, because the more you talk about problems, the bigger they seem to get. But sometimes my deacon board would talk about church problems, and sure enough, the more they talked about them, the bigger the problems seemed to get. Then one of the deacons would look at me and say, "Oh, Brother Hagin, what in the world are we going to do?" I'd smile and say, "We're going to act like the Bible is tru

CHOSEN FOR A DIVINE PURPOSE

OPEN HEAVENS 2017  Tuesday August 29th 2017 Memorise:  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Read:  Acts 17:24-31 (KJV) 24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Just As I Am

You are living a brand new kind of life . . . more and more like Christ who created this new life within you. —Colossians 3:10 (TLB) A long-haired blonde from a southern university seemed to be enjoying a satisfactory student career when her grades began to slip. “Life had become one long case of the blahs,” she confessed later. “I wasn’t walking around with a steady load of blues, but I wasn’t enjoying life. Small things made me blow up. I met some kids who seemed to know something I didn’t know, but I couldn’t get in on it. We went to several meetings, and one night the speaker said that we don’t earn God’s love. He takes us as we are. It was then I realized it wasn’t a matter of clocking up a certain number of hours doing good deeds. Instead, I had to make myself available. Through faith, I had to let Him take over. It came together all at once, when I accepted Christ as my personal Savior. I know that God is in me in everything I do. My life has taken on a new dimension.” Does

BROKEN SHIPS

Image
TUESDAY, AUGUST 29, 2017 2 CHRONICLES 20:31-37 KEY VERSE: "…Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the LORD hath broken thy works. And the ships were broken…" (2 Chronicles 20:37). The saying that when things are sometimes falling apart, they may actually be falling into place had never been truer as in the case of Jehoshaphat. He began well by doing what was right in the sight of God. But he soon got into a relationship that was headed in the wrong direction. He began a ship-building business with an unbelieving king. The business was doomed as God broke the ships, severed the partnership and made sure the venture never worked. While things fell apart, they were actually falling into the path God wanted for him. There are many kinds of ships that are capable of ruining our testimony and taking us far from God. The devil has so many ships he has constructed to carry people to eternal damnation. Satan can send friendship, courtship, partnership, schola

God's Word Is Good

Health Food Devotional August 29, 2017 Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. (Jer. 1:12) I remember another situation in which I had to act on what the banker said. I needed a car that could pull my trailer up mountainous roads. So I bought a 1955 V8 Chevrolet.  Well, I didn't have the money to buy it. I found a salesman who would let me have it at cost. However, instead of letting me have it at cost, it cost him one hundred and fifty dollars to sell it to me.  So I called from California to Garland, Texas, to speak to my banker. I said, "Mr. Mitchell, I am buying a three-quarter ton pick-up truck." Then I told him the price. He said, "Wow! There's got to be some mistake here."  So the salesman got on the phone with Mr. Mitchell and said, "I'm staying with the figure I gave him. We made a mistake. We figured it wrong. He's getting the truck at one hundred and fifty dollars less than w
