Addition
to what one has is inevitable physically and spiritually. You add directly,
purposefully or unknowingly to what you have. For instance, an automobile rewires
once told me that they learn lying together with their trade; so, they add lie
to their trade and so are many unbelievers today; they add deception, unfaithfulness,
eye service, men pleasing, laziness and slothfulness to their profession. Well,
it is their nature for one cannot tell bird not to fly nor hinder fish from
swimming; a sinner will behave as a sinner and believers in Christ must behave
like the one that possess them which is our Lord Jesus Christ – the hope of
glory. You cannot add alcoholism to your lifestyle if Christ is in you; smoking
of whatever will not be part of your life if you are in Christ; fornication and
adultery cannot be added if Christ is in you.
In
Christ Jesus you are a new creature; old lifestyle of waywardness,
unfaithfulness, headiness and self will is gone; behold you are new in thought,
deeds and actions.
In
Christ Jesus you are expected to grow; you are suppose to diligently add to
your faith virtue [positive Christian conducts, good conducts], to virtue
knowledge [by giving honest attendance to reading of the scriptures and
inspired Christian literatures], to knowledge add self-control [temperance], to
temperance add patience [endurance, tolerance] and to patience add godliness
[piety, devoutness, religiousness], you must be fervent in spirit serving the
Lord; and to godliness add brotherly kindness – kind heartedness [which is
possible and inevitable in Christ Jesus who went about doing good] and to
brotherly kindness add charity which is love – the nature of God.
You
make deliberate efforts to add these things to your faith in Christ Jesus as the
grace of God teaches you constantly. For the grace of God that brings salvation
has appeared unto us teaching us that we should deny all ungodliness and
unfaithfulness and live soberly, righteously and holily in this present evil
world.
You
can grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ by giving yourself
deliberately to reading the word and meditating therein; you as well make
deliberate effort to be fervent in spirit made possible by purposeful, diligent
and meaningful prayers through which the grace is ministered unto us to be
strong in the Lord.
Confession
of the Day
I
will add virtue to my faith; knowledge of the triune God to my virtue;
temperance to my knowledge; patience to temperance; godliness to patience;
brotherly kindness to godliness and charity to brotherly kindness for
fruitfulness in the kingdom of God.
Prayer
Points
Lord,
it is not by power, nor by might, it is all by your grace; hence, help me like
you helped our fathers in the faith in the days gone by; empowers me to affect
my generation positively for Christ Jesus.
