Bible Reading: - Matthew 4:1 – 25
Message
Prior to having contact with Jesus every sinner or seeker would have gone his own ways contrary to that of God doing that which seemeth right in his own eyes, but bible says as long it is not of God it is a way of death; because it separates you from God.
Prov 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
That way that seemeth right unto thee can be that of idol worship, occultism, sorcery, witchcraft, vain religion in the tradition of men, nominal Christian like that of Nicodemus, a Pharisee or Sadducee or whatever is not of true God; which must be jettisoned for that of the true God if you ever want to see his face on the last day.
In our text today, he called Peter, Andrew, John and James and they immediately, without wasting time left their own for his own being the master over all things.
As you hear the clarion call of Jesus through men of God today, tarry not, do not waste time, make haste, leave whatever you are doing leave your own ways and embrace that of God for your own good.
Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
You need to forsake your own ways, your thoughts, and works that are not approved by the Lord and return to the Lord who is your creator that knows the best way for you. Ways chosen by you without that of God are ways of death because God is not with you there; when there is separation between you and God like between soul and body at death, it means you are spiritually dead and alienated from God.
Today God is calling you to come and embrace Jesus – the truth, the way and the life without whom we cannot see God, it therefore necessary for you to forsake your own ways and things that tie you down to the world and embrace Christ the saviour of the whole world immediately without delay.
Peter, Andrew, James and John left their nets and boats immediately and followed him; and that is how it should be done; delay is dangerous, tomorrow might be too late; today is the day of salvation, it is the day of decision and time of refreshing before God.
Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
God is justified and cannot be blame for your negligence for he said “come now” not tomorrow; if you delay and die in sin, you will blame yourself in hell. Rise now and come to him and you will be abundantly pardoned.
Confession of the Day
All to Jesus my blessed saviour I surrender all – my soul, talent, time, spirit and body are all yours, take them and let me be.
Prayer Points
Lord Jesus, here I come, I surrender all my sins and faults to you, forgive and accept me into your dear kingdom; and grant me grace to follow you day by day till the very end. (Amen)
