Message
The most
sure and reliable testimony about our final place of abode was revealed by
Christ the son of God who came down from heaven.
Jn 3:13 And no man hath
ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man
which is in heaven.
Don’t be
deceived, there is life after death and it will either be in hell or in heaven
depending on whom you give yourself to here on earth. The rich man and Lazarus
the beggar in today’s reading revealed that there are two sets of people on
earth here and there are two destinations prepared for them by God. He is a
descent and orderly God who will not allow his sheep to dwell with goats in
eternity. Hell is meant for the devil and his followers while heaven is for the
sincere and holy believers that died in Christ.
The rich
man went to hell not because he was rich but because he closed his ears to the
warnings of servants of God pointing him to his creator when he was here on
earth; besides he also refused to help the needy Lazarus directed to him by
God; he closed the bowels of his compassion towards him and stubbornly refused
to help him.
Dear
brothers and sisters listen to the warnings of men of God preaching the word
faithfully and amend your ways according to the word so that you can get to
Abraham’s bosom in paradise on the last day; otherwise you will spend eternity
in hell prepared for the devil and his followers.
Some
people believe in the doctrine of annihilation – no life after death, but
Christ in the story of the rich man and Lazarus [the beggar] showed that there
is life after death whereby you will see and recognize one another. Come to
think of it, when you sleep [momentary death] you see yourself elsewhere; even
though the body is here and you [the real you] is somewhere in the dream land.
In like manner when the final separation from this body comes, the body will be
laid to rest, but your spirit[the real you, the inward man] will go back to God
and will be directed to its final place of abode – heaven or hell according to
whom you have followed here.
To make
it to heaven, yield your life wholly to God through Christ our saviour and the
only mediator between man and God and follow him consistently to the end.
Remember mere religion without genuine salvation experience in Christ Jesus
will not help you. Be warned!
Confession
of the Day
I will
walk in the steps of him [Christ] that delights in my prosperity to the end.
Prayer
Points
I give
my life afresh to you Lord; I cannot save myself, save me and uphold me to the
end.
Let me
not derail or go astray from following you my dearest saviour.
Give me grace to
extend my hand of cares to the needy around me; deliver me from greediness and selfishness
in Jesus name. [Amen]
